<esden>
Slow progress. I got the second side programmed mostly. Still need to fix some of the rotations. It took a long time to set up all the odd ICs and their profiles. (and with all the regular crazyness going on in the mean time too)
<esden>
I had to finish assembling the hdmi pmod that were on the pnp machine. So I can tear down that setup. That took another two days. Longer than I expected.
<esden>
I will have to mess around with that too, I do not like having 0402 parts on the rear feeder base. I prefer having them in front where I can keep an eye on them.
<esden>
Also I just realize that for some reason the ESD diode parts are missing in here... will need to look into that...
<esden>
But at least all the part profiles are done. I recorded the process but it is insanely flickery sped up, because I am flicking between the programming software and the datasheets. I should have done that on a second monitor.

ack
<whitequark>
thanks for the update :)
<esden>
But getting closer. :)
<esden>
I just realized I am missing the protection diodes for the output pins. Now I have to reimport the thing >_< ahh well that is not as much work as creating the part profiles. :D

LOL! Why are the MG2040 set as Through hole parts in the board file... ;) that is why KiCad is not exporting those footprints when generating the pos file. :D
<esden>
Ok, I will have to sit down tomorrow and carefully check all the footprints. So that we don't miss anything. :)
<plaes>
esden: are you also in charge of EU shop?
<plaes>
or is it something that's outsourced

<marcan>
esden: probably because I didn't even realize where that setting was when I made the part :S
<marcan>
(I'm actually a kicad n00b, glasgow is my second kicad board and my first was a completely trivial thing)
<esden>
marcan: no one usually cares. I doubt many people generate pos files :D i do not know if that setting affects anything else than that.
<esden>
I just found it hilarious that this complicated and part is a through hole
<marcan>
heh]

<esden>
Hey phone why do you not know the word smd yet!!! >_<
<marcan>
esden: btw, I find it vaguely amusing that that PnP software looks like a mspaint drawing
<esden>
That is how fast the rendering is too. I have to disable the drawing and make the remainder tiny if I do not want to slow down the machine! Yes the rendering noticeably slows down the machine!!!
<marcan>
lol. nice.
<esden>
plaes: yes 1BitSquared.de is also my company.
<kc8apf>
esden: I'm tempted to reverse engineer the control protocol for your PnP just so someone can make slightly better software
<esden>
kc8apf: mhh... but this software is mill-spec! :D
<esden>
no seriously, this software has actually all the features needed for mil-spec production. That is why they still maintain those, as the US gov is using those machines. Good software != certified :D
<esden>
and yes I would love to put open-pnp on the machine eventually, I talked to several people already about it... there are just too few of them in hands of people that would be willing/interested/capable in doing the retrofit.
<esden>
Although they are old and they do pop up regularely for 8-10k with reels and everything here and there.
<esden>
this one needs the real time computer card replaced with something like mine has... where you talk directly to the steppers and sensors and switches. (I still have to make a photos of all the cards in my machine and at least describe what they do)
<esden>
originally the machines are run from a DOS computer, and ave a "realtime computer" as a card plugged into the backplane. Mine is "upgraded" with a windows computer and the software you see screenshots of. But the "realtime computer" is not there and a dummy card is in it's place that essentially has a small MCU, level shifters and an FTDI adapter to talk to the windows machine.

I'll need to visit sometime and gather packet dumps
