<d1b2> <konsgn> haha unless i get the hang of silent voice (https://hackaday.com/tag/silent-voice/): or get one of those sub-vocalization microphones it may need to be a silent stream. To that end may just try sharing my screen here if that is possible

<d1b2> <konsgn> hmm really strange, it seems you can't show what is on another screen without it pausing the feed.

<d1b2> <Attie> @esden and I are talking about Glasgow at FOSDEM on Sunday 7th, at 14.15 UTC - come and join us! https://fosdem.org/2021/schedule/event/glasgow/
<Saphire> So I'm guessing there's no way now to get Glasgow by may, if you did not manage to hop on crowdfunding train?
<jpa-> build one yourself? :)
<sorear> even if you did hop on the crowdfunding train you wouldn't have it by may
<agg> still can't believe I missed the early bird units by about ten minutes :p
<electronic_eel> Saphire: the crowdsupply campaign was quite a success with about 2300 boards ordered. it takes time to order the components, have them manufactured, tested, packaged and shipped out
<electronic_eel> so other than building the board yourself (or finding someone who does it for you) i don't see a way to get it before august
<d1b2> <Attie> @electronic_eel are you on Discord / can you DM me somehow? (email is fine attie@attie.co.uk)
<electronic_eel> @attie i think the discord bridge can't handle private messages. I'm not on discord. so email it is
<d1b2> <Attie> ty!
<sorear> gonna need a "i live in X city where is the closest unit to borrow"
<electronic_eel> sorear: Uber-glasgow, where you can have a glasgow unit driven to you
<sorear> who knows it might be in walking distance
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> somehow "we have glasgows stationed all across the world" feels off
<d1b2> <rcu> meet hot glasgows in your area
<sorear> this would be more of a problem if we were the flat earth society
<electronic_eel> sorear: why?
<hell__> glasgow-powered glasgow manufacturing machine
<sorear> members around the globe
<electronic_eel> hmm, wouldn't be a globe, but a disc then. but members could be still around it, couldn't they?

<Saphire> david.lenfesty: something something a secret agency?
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> I was thinking more that somehow every country in the world has a city named glasgow but secret hardware agents are cooler
<ebb> A virulent bitstream that stays resident in your FPGA is an interesting concept
<ebb> (not out of the question if they embed flash on chip)
<sorear> as demonstrated by azonenberg a few years ago any fpga is an otp fpga if you run enough current through it
<hell__> o_O

<d1b2> <rcu> I've been thinking about a counterpart to the Glasgow Interface Explorer, the Aberdeen Interface Exploder
<ebb> And the Stirling Interface Engine?
<fridtjof[m]> How about the Nottingham Interface Extruder?
<ebb> Does glasgow device do a handshake with the host computer?
<ebb> Which you may call a Glasgow handshake
<whitequark> ebb: so there's the ATF15xx CPLD family which lets you reuse JTAG pins as user pins
<whitequark> it has a 12V override for programming, but you could conceivably just burn that off
<whitequark> sadly, it doesn't have remotely enough compute to emulate itself, even poorly, at the very basic JTAG instruction level, i think
<whitequark> (like i don't think it has enough state bits to simulate its own flash pointers)
<whitequark> but. maybe there's other FPGAs which let you do that. this would be a fun trick to do
<d1b2> <daveshah> Looks like this might be doable on xo2, all of the JTAG pins and the JTAG enable pin are remappable to user IO by the looks of things
<d1b2> <daveshah> I have a feeling that can't be done by a normal bitstream but needs a feature row change (think FPGA equivalent of AVR fuses) as part of the programming step, at least for the latter pin
<whitequark> neato

<d1b2> <Hardkrash> Is the FOSDEM talk going to be recorded?
<d1b2> <Attie> I believe so
<d1b2> <Attie> I'll be publishing a copy of the talk without the q&a if it isn't
