<gk802user> hi hi, have you heard of anyone abled to compile a custom module (.ko) for gk802 with kernel: 3.0.35-02345-g411df6f6-dirty
<gk802user> I do have Asus touch screen, and seems I need hid-multitouch.ko for this kernel. If there is no way, then I need to go for ubuntu 11.10 i guess

<JBD1986> Hello there. I have a question regarding the imx6 vivante drivers. We have recently upgraded our kernel from 3.0.35_1.0.0 to 3.0.35_4.1.0. I wanted to know what the appropriate driver for this kernel rev would be.
<JBD1986> I was able to find a "gpu-viv-bin-mx6q_3.0.35-4.0.0.bb" file, but it appeared that this is not present in the master branch
<hste> JBD19866: 4.1.0 use Galcore version 4.6.9.6622
<JBD1986> The commit where it is introduced is 8dd5a12dbb99c9f91feb6716bf969439d1a7e773
<hste> JBD19866: yocto dora should have the newest one
<JBD1986> thanks hste, I will check out the dora branch

<triplelexx> hello, I've been trying to get Linux on a gk802, played with getting a few images loaded, I did have Linaro boot at one point but now can't get anything to load
<triplelexx> not sure if I've bricked it or if it's my card structure
<WarheadsSE> Have you verified this via uart console?
<triplelexx> I have a uboot partition
<triplelexx> I'd like to try the stock rom, does anyone know where I can get that?
<triplelexx> I can't get anything on screen atm so haven't tried debugging further
eebrah_ has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds]
<hste> triplelexx: I don't have the andriod image, but you could try this linux installer script from pc:http://stende.no-ip.info/files/mkubuntu.sh its based on jas-hack_work
<triplelexx> I tried your scripts
<triplelexx> it's how I got linaro up
<triplelexx> but now when I run the scripts they fail
<triplelexx> in various ways
<triplelexx> like they'll go into a loop
<triplelexx> with the 12_04 script for instance
<triplelexx> maybe something got updated?
<triplelexx> but seems weird, I could run it before
<hste> yes maybe but the mkubuntu.sh worked last time I tried it
<triplelexx> I set the device to sdc
<triplelexx> I'll try that again now
<triplelexx> yeah I have that
<hste> wait. I'll do an update to it.. its a newer rootfs you can try
<triplelexx> mkubuntu.sh: 37: mkubuntu.sh: Syntax error: "(" unexpected (expecting ";;")
<triplelexx> I get that
<hste> yes I saw its an old script. I'll update it now
<triplelexx> ah ok
<triplelexx> awesome
<triplelexx> but yeah could have bricked it by now :/
<hste> Try download it agian now
<JBD1986> triple, are you not getting a console via the uart pins, or just not getting output over HDMI?
<triplelexx> what using 3 pin serial?
<triplelexx> no output oin hdmi
<JBD1986> that would give you a much better idea of what's going on
<triplelexx> ok I'll try putty if I can just jam some wiress in there
<JBD1986> well
<JBD1986> you do need to convert the level
<JBD1986> you can't just hook it up to a rs232 connector
<JBD1986> one of those guys will do the trick
<JBD1986> hopefully you can find one locally
<WarheadsSE> or FTDI, even some PL2303's
<triplelexx> I got pl2303s
<JBD1986> then you should be good to go
<triplelexx> you mean usb to serial dongle/
<JBD1986> yeah that's the device
<JBD1986> it's the ttl conversion that's the necessary step there
<triplelexx> yeah then just tx,rx and ground
<triplelexx> cool, if I can't get next image to boot I'll try that
<JBD1986> the adapter also provides a com port to your PC
<triplelexx> yeah I've used them for years
<JBD1986> which you may or may not need, but in this case it's an all in one solution
<triplelexx> since I lost them on my laptop lol
<WarheadsSE> It will need to be a 3.3v conversion
<WarheadsSE> not the 5/12v one
<triplelexx> hmm, not sure there
<WarheadsSE> If it hooks up to standard PC serial, then its not likely the one you want.
<triplelexx> nah all usb prolific
<triplelexx> just have to try
<triplelexx> I'm hoping to see text, if not I'm gonna have to move on
<triplelexx> should get another box but the imx6 should be good for what i'm trying to do atm
<triplelexx> just maybe get something with more zip for hd video at this point
<triplelexx> would be good for testing but taking the little thing apart is frustrating, if I can get it working I'm going to build a new case for it
<WarheadsSE> Well, at the very least, DO NOT ATTACH Vcc
<triplelexx> you mean the pin?
<WarheadsSE> Yes, do not attach the Vcc source pin. If the voltage is off, it will fry the SoC
<triplelexx> yeah, the pic gets inverted
<hste> triplelexx: the http://stende.no-ip.info/files/mkubuntu.sh now have a 3.0.35-4.1.0 kernel. Hopefully hdmi works on thatand xubuntu 13.04
<triplelexx> I see one is square so should be easy to figure out
<triplelexx> awesome, I'll give it a try now then
<JBD1986> do you have multimeter triple?
<triplelexx> yeah
<JBD1986> you could test the vcc out on the usb adapter
<triplelexx> all that stuff ;)
<JBD1986> to make sure it's 3.3v
<triplelexx> I'm fairly hands on
<triplelexx> thanks for the heads up, if I brick it it'll be from my fat fingers taking it apart :)
<triplelexx> hmm still got the error at 37
<triplelexx> Syntax error: "(" unexpected (expecting ";;")
<hste> do you chmod +x and run it ./mkubuntu.sh ?
<triplelexx> yeah maybe I'm just running the wrong command lol
<triplelexx> I'm just doing sudo sh
<hste> chmod +x mkubuntu.sh and then just ./mkubuntu.sh
<triplelexx> ahh ok, so that's like a permission modifier command to run first?
<hste> yes +x is for allowing to run script
<hste> +rwx gives you read write and execute
<triplelexx> cool, running now
<triplelexx> don't remember that step before
<triplelexx> thanks
<triplelexx> so is this for gk802 or more Wandaboard or something else?
<triplelexx> the Utilite looks cool as well

<jas-hacks_> hste: utilite turned up :)
<hste> jas-hacks_: what version?
<jas-hacks_> pro version - 2GB
<hste> jas-hacks_: have u started playing with it? :) or is it still in the box? :)
<jas-hacks_> it boots to 1080p, unfortunately my hooked up monitor is 720p so don't a screen.
<jas-hacks_> I wired up the serial port, unfortunately that uses a DB9 connector (why ????? )
<hste> jas-hacks_: so u don't got an old pc with serial?
<rm> what's wrong with serial ports using DB9?
<rm> it is the long time standard
<jas-hacks_> luckily I have a usb laptop dock with DB9
<rm> I am sick of some 2mm pins I have to find cables for... or worse, solder pads
<jas-hacks_> DB9 is soooo big
<rm> Lemote Fuloong uses a DB9 to proprietary micro-connector converter :) http://mirrors.romanrm.net/lemote-unbox/0425.jpg
<jas-hacks_> would have preferred 2.5mm header with 3.3v
<hste> jas-hacks_: what system is it preinstalled with? android?
<jas-hacks_> ubuntu 12.04
<hste> what kernel?
<jas-hacks_> 3.0.35 & I think BSP 4.0.0
