once an upload is pinned, is there a time limit to how long a node needs to be on the network before it can shutdown or does it always need to be available?

denzuko: what's the bad thing you're trying to prevent from happening by keeping the node on the network? Pinning data basically means that your local node will keep the data indefinitely. However, if your node is the only one on the network with a copy of the data and it goes offline where will other users be able to get the data from?

Of course. the use case I am trying to solve is releasing vuejs apps and general sites via a cicd pipeline. So the implementation is a node spins up temporary then adds the upload, updates the dnslink values as needed then as the job ends goes offline.

hey everyone, had a question about creating a static hash on IPFS that I could use a single entry point for users while managing the link to the dynamic hashes in the background myself. I think I need to use IPNS for this, but I'm kinda confused about what "republishing" means in the context of IPNS. It sounds like the IPNS link is only alive for 2

Just ran a quick test - published a file got hash X, changed the underlying file and republished and got the same hash X. That's awesome and the behavior I expected (wanted). I'm kinda curious how that works under the hood though. Does everyone just get one IPNS name space, or is there some black magic going on to create the same IPNS hash for the

current (merged and released) IPNS PubSub is much faster when receiving updates but almost exactly as slow when initially resolving a record. That set of PRs allows the first resolve to be much faster.
