And I was wondering, what would it take to back up the internet archive with ipfs ?
<jadedctrl>
nbonfils[m]: the entire internet archive?
<jadedctrl>
a massive amount of resources and coordination
<jadedctrl>
and cooperation from the archive itself
<jadedctrl>
they host an insane amount of data, it's beautiful
<nbonfils[m]>
Yes but ipfs would definitely be a solution to those kind of problems right ?
<nbonfils[m]>
Since it aims to make data/website more resilient

well, the internet archive "problem" was, that they removed the limit of the waitlist in their library (those ebooks still have drm stuff afaik) as normal library are closed due to COVID-19, they announced and started that in march, so no idea why the publishers waited so long to sue IA

Oh yes, I just meant problem in the sense that if they shutdown an amazing chunk of information would disapear, ipfs should prevent such thing due to its decentralized nature right ?

IPFS provides free storage only for those data that someone would download and keep anyway. If you think a certain item of data is worth keeping, be that someone.

Any thoughts on how to speed up publishing to ipns?

<dadepo[m]>
It currently takes a painfully long time :|
<dadepo[m]>
Publishing could sometimes take 2 minutes
<dadepo[m]>
and the time does not reduce upon consequent publishing
