<JCaesar>
redrield: The usual way to solve that is `/ipfs/<CID>/#a/b/c/d`, and parse the fragment in JS, I think…
<JCaesar>
(And... I don't know where to find that mfs issue.)

<continuouswave[m>
Probably a stupid question, but if the CID is kept private, it's still published/broadcasted to the network (and therefore visible to everyone) when the fire is retrieved, correct?
<continuouswave[m>
And a followup, is it broadcasted when the file is initially pinned as well?
<swedneck>
your node will announce that it's serving the data as part of `ipfs add` by default
<continuouswave[m>
Thanks
<continuouswave[m>
So I guess most people just use encryption for things that require privacy?
<swedneck>
it's better to use private networks
<swedneck>
basically like private trackers in torrent
<continuouswave[m>
Can those run side by side with the global network?
<swedneck>
not sure
<continuouswave[m>
I've seen the guides for those but just assumed (possibly wrongly) that it was either/or
<JCaesar>
(So it's not the mfs root issue, even though I'm doing some quite heavy writing to it.)

ˈt͡sɛːzaɐ̯: wow, that seems quite long. Do things restart quickly now or is it still slow (i.e. Was there some state being corrected)?
<JCaesar>
I hit the daemon with a sigint. let's see.
<JCaesar>
Hasn't even shut down yet…
<aschmahmann>
Probably worth waiting since we're testing if there was a possible corruption, but generally if shutting down is slow you can hit it with a second ctrl-c and that'll do it
