Currently, when you request a block, you just get that block, right? Assuming we'll eventually get decent laser communications to mars, the connection would have at least several GB in flight... you'd need some system for "this block was requested, what other blocks could we send while the connection is idle"

keep in mind that pinning is a go-ipfs concept, you don't need to pin data to provide it to the network

Also the DHT findprovs is an approximation as some peers have the content and will give it to you when asked but do not advertise in the DHT that they have the data
