when I build jruby-1.7.27, it contains a vendored bouncycastle 1.55. I'm trying to figure out if I can create a build where it's updated to contain 1.61... but I can't figure out why it's picking up 1.55 in the first place (I don't see that version in the code/config). Any one have any idea?

codefinger: its packed in from jruby-openssl gem
20:44
<
kares >
so you would need to update the jossl gem - should be able to do that in lib/pom.rb
20:44
<
codefinger >
kares: i see that now. duh :)
20:44
<
codefinger >
kares: i'm actually trying that now, but getting an error building
20:44
<

yeah its going to be tricky
20:44
<

since 1.7 has been long off the hook
20:45
<
codefinger >
yea, sorry. we're trying to still support 1.7.27, but we're having an issue with Bundler 2 that I think might be related to jruby-openssl
20:46
<
kares >
yeah most likely
20:46
<
kares >
that nil seems familiar but no ideas atm
20:46
<
codefinger >
ok, i've still got some stuff i can try
20:47

think there was an issue with the build under newer JVM
20:47
<

codefinger: using Java 8 ?
20:48
<
kares >
that should work than
20:49
<
codefinger >
ah, i got a "jruby-openssl requires RubyGems version >= 2.4.8." trying to install 0.10.1, so i'm getting better
20:54
<
kares >
yeah btw latest still uses BC 1.59
20:54
<
kares >
might not work with Java 7
21:41
<

codefinger: do you have a timeline for how long you intend to keep supporting old Ruby versions?
21:50
<
codefinger >
headius: no, not yet
21:50
<
codefinger >
it's been case by case
21:51
<
headius >
codefinger: ok...tough for us to support at this point but keep us posted if you can't get it working
21:52
<
codefinger >
i've got it built with the updated jruby-openssl, so going to test and see if it fixes the bundler thing
