<headius[m]> Ok I have the dumb
<headius[m]> I didn't walk children right
<headius[m]> so I can confirm that appcds does NOT work with directories
<headius[m]> that's a bit of a downer since folks will have to update a jar file to use cds with cached classes
<headius[m]> I was able to test cds a bit with this and it helps reduce the -X+C boot time but it's still much slower than booting from source
<headius[m]> I also tested OpenJ9 shareclasses and that seems to do a better job...but crashes
<headius[m]> woah there's a jump
<headius[m]> YES
<headius[m]> openj9 starts up slightly faster with cached classes
<headius[m]> ok it's working and some things are faster...clearly good progress
<headius[m]> goodnight

<ARTSIOM> hi! what is the "reference" way to run rails app with jruby these days?
<ARTSIOM> I have torquebox+nginx config running fine for years for an old project, but now starting a new one, so wondering better config
<rwilliams[m]> I can link you a skeleton rails app with puma
<rwilliams[m]> I think puma is pretty much the standard these days
<ARTSIOM> I really liked (and heavily used with no issues) torquebox's out-of-the box - cache and jobs
<ARTSIOM> so looking for smth similar like app server (not just web server)
<ARTSIOM> does rails+warbler+wildfly sounds good?
ARTSIOM has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<headius[m]> With torquebox gone we usually have just been recommending doing things the Ruby way with just a web app server like Puma, but the warbler option is still out there
<headius[m]> Oh just missed

<fzakaria[m]> Are any of the JRuby maintainers in California SouthBay area ?

<fzakaria[m]> woah -- never getting into a helicopter.
<headius[m]> yeah me neither
<headius[m]> seems like there's a crash in the news every other week
<fzakaria[m]> seriously.
