<rwilliams[m]> Can any of your recommend a remote pair programming tool? We used to use screenhero until Slack bought it and ruined it. I was thinking of just sharing screens in discrod but remote keyboard/mouse control would be very nice.

<rdubya[m]> I've seen blurbs about this one for a bit but I haven't had a reason to use it yet: https://tuple.app/
<rdubya[m]> it's also mac only
<rwilliams[m]> It's only mac app?
<rwilliams[m]> oh
<rwilliams[m]> yeah it's on the description
<rwilliams[m]> None of my team has macs except me and I work on windows (WSL) and linux
<rwilliams[m]> mostly
<headius[m]> g'day
<rwilliams[m]> Howdy
<headius[m]> g'day
<headius[m]> oops thanks riot
<rwilliams[m]> has
<rwilliams[m]> oof
<rwilliams[m]> ha
<rwilliams[m]> headius: do you have any recommendations on pair programming/screen sharing software. I know there are quite a few good web based ones but I don't really know where to start
<headius[m]> hmm yeah I really don't other than typical video chat apps that have screensharing features like skype or google hangouts (or whatever it's called now)
<headius[m]> the person I need to pair with most often is enebo and I can just drive over to his house 😀
<rwilliams[m]> ha
shellac has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<enebo[m]> I also have a 34" monitor
<rwilliams[m]> I wonder in the web based VS code has pair programming features
<headius[m]> I wouldn't be surprised
<headius[m]> I did try to use Netbeans pair programming features once and it sorta worked

<headius[m]> enebo: I have been contemplating another style of call site that would be more code but possibly comparable to indy without being indy
<headius[m]> basically just emitting call site logic directly into the compiled script .class that can dispatch to a specific DynamicMethod directly... for cases where arity matches and it goes straight through it would profile as a direct call
<headius[m]> it might be a path forward for making native AOT peak perf more reliable, since those sites could profile better

<headius[m]> yeah it would be a big chunk of code for each site
<headius[m]> there's no easy way to get the JVM to inline and specialize the call site logic in each place though
<enebo[m]> yeah
<headius[m]> really the amount of code generated probably would be comparable to indy, but indy can cheat and force inlining
<headius[m]> in the context of a native compile it might boil down better
<enebo[m]> largely it just means forcing inlining 100% but without making types associated with handles
<enebo[m]> so more code but less types
<headius[m]> yeah
<lopex> and more numbers
<headius[m]> numbers!
<lopex> it seems that the perf competition between jvn vendors somewhat vanished
<lopex> is it that everyone has hit the ceiling ?
<headius[m]> yeah hard to say... Azul and OpenJ9 are both still evolving
<lopex> or there is no money in the busibess ?
<headius[m]> I don't know if shops are really willing to pay for closed-source runtimes
<lopex> so the greatest contenters are azul, hotspot still and azul ?
<headius[m]> they have their new Falcon JIT
<lopex> er I meant graal for the third
<lopex> azul ?
<headius[m]> yeah graal
<headius[m]> Azul's new JIT is called Falcon, and it's based on LLVM
<lopex> ah zing
<headius[m]> yeah in Zing
<headius[m]> next couple years will be interesting
<lopex> bit since ages gralljs and V8 were on par so I kinda thought they hit the limit
<lopex> for such different techs
<lopex> headius[m]: though zing seem to pursue parallelism and vectorization on their vm
<lopex> not exactly suited for other uses
