hi all. i have libreelec set up on a raspi3 for a while now. it works perfectly but it just does not play any big video files (like 3-4GB mpegs). is it a limitation of the hardware?

Maybe someone can confirm or refute that you still need the mpeg-2 license for hardware decoding of mpeg mediafiles
<klesk>
don't know if this is still the status quo
<marcus_>
ah, that can be the case. I have one time bought such a license but it was bound to a device id.

I play blu-ray remuxes up to 40GB just fine. but for VC-1 and MPEG2 you need licenses to enable hardware decoding

If you bring up the video info OSD thingy during playback, it'll tell you if hardware accel is enabled or not. If it's not, then there's the problem.
