I know that libreelec mounts its system partition as read only, but I am trying to get tvheadend working, albeit the usb tv tuner (playtv) is not working. Normally I guess i'd do lsusb to see if its working and picking up with drivers. If it's not, is that a fixable thing? (adding drivers)

not so easy but doable - you'd have to build a custom image if you need additional drivers

Hello. I was trying the latest Orangepi PC Plus image (LibreELEC-H3.arm-9.1-nightly-20190610-41c5cd2-orangepi_pc_plus.img.gz) to try the hardware decoder. It works fine. Then I tried to use ffmpeg command line tool (https://test.libreelec.tv/addons/9.1/H3/arm/tools.ffmpeg-tools/tools.ffmpeg-tools-9.1.107.zip) to encode or decode using hardware decoder. But it always use the software decoder.
<ysfstark>
what is the ffmpeg arguments to be used to decode video using hw decoder?

hi, trying to upgrade from my pi3 b which is pretty slow. I do use hyperion led light system tho. what is a good upgrade that would speed things up significantly? I been looking at lepotato but it seems that it is using a old 3.x kernel any issues with support for the future on that one?

ponyofdeath: maybe try the `top` command while in ssh terminal to your LE raspberry to see if kodi.bin or your hyperion software is using the most resources. My Raspi 2B is pretty snappy with LE, but what sped mine up most was getting the database off the SD card and into a MySQL db on my NAS.
<mack->
that wouldn't help if hyperion is what really is bogging you done, though.
<ponyofdeath>
mack-: yeah I have mysql hosting my db
<ponyofdeath>
mack-: just that scanning library usually crashes my pi either out of mem or not sure
<ponyofdeath>
also resuming and browsing directories is pretty slow
<mack->
actually, I remember now that moving the db off the SD card was the second-fastest speed up. My first installation was on a piece-of-crap SD card. Replacing that with a reputable card was the best thing. Sounds like you might also have a poor quality SD card, or a failing card.
<mack->
or, if the Pi3 is pushed hard and/or overclocked, an overheating Pi
<mack->
if you're trying to do scanning and directory browsing over the Pi's wi-fi, try ethernet to rule out the crappy wifi, too
<ponyofdeath>
yeah wifi is def not the best on the pi
<ponyofdeath>
thanks
