Thinking about it again: Is it possible that the MAC setting already works and only connman gets confused? At least, I did not have to adjust to DHCP server (dnsmasq) with every reboot to assign the correct IP. The whole discussion started from connman creating constantly new connections and loosing it settings....
<vpeter>
Reading this looks like 1. april joke :)
<rdorsch>
Sorry that it took longer to realize this (at least if it turns out to be true)...and no it is not a late April joke :-)
<vpeter>
I didn't mean your writing but above for other solutions.
<vpeter>
Mac in options file for example.

Someone should tell to some mainline u-boot dev to add proper support for cubox?

I think it probably already works, but connman has an issue (tbc).
<rdorsch>
chewitt: Thanks for the new image. I need to test it later today (there would be more thing for random fixes ;-)). Is the boot log available in the file system or do I need to capture it on a serial console on ttymxc0 ?
<rdorsch>
vpeter: I still like the mac in the options file. Instead of configuring forth and back dnsmasq, I could just force the MAC, if I use temporarily different hardware. But I admit, this is mainly useful in the testing phase for imx6 and not really an end user feature.
<chewitt>
it's not a connman issue
<chewitt>
if you can share the boot log .. u-boot output should show if it can read the MAC from fuse
<rdorsch>
ok, strange. I will investigate with your new image later. Has this ethermac-config disabled for fsl*?
<chewitt>
if yes, the issue is somewhere between u-boot and kernel
<chewitt>
if no, you'll see a message saying u-boot generated a random MAC
<rdorsch>
ok. How do I get the boot log?
<chewitt>
via the USB/UART cable
<rdorsch>
I will try that, but probably not before tonight.
<chewitt>
no rush
<chewitt>
the machineid script is still active in the image, but you can do 'systemctl mask ethmactool-config.service' to disable it
