<lissyx> steev, we met at kernel recipes, discussed about if it was doable to help get v4l acceleration for firefox on some arm64 platforms
<steev> Ah that way
<lissyx> yes

<yangxuan> hi, chewitt
<chewitt> hi
<yangxuan> I tried your forked libreelec, and add my device, but after compile it not boot
<chewitt> remind me again, what's the device?
<chewitt> and do you have a dts file in a repo somewhere?
<chewitt> or the LE modifications
<yangxuan> a s905d box
<yangxuan> yes, I have add it
<yangxuan> wait some minutes, will upload my changes to github
<yangxuan> I guess it should similar to SML5442TW, it's also a s905d devices
<chewitt> the commit looks ok
<chewitt> can you attach a uart console cable to the box and see uboot output?
<chewitt> and .. what methods have you tried for booting
<chewitt> the box will need to be tricked into "recovery" mode first
<yangxuan> I boot it with flash the img into usb disk
<yangxuan> I didn't connect uart yet, need soldering, I remember it just stuck at the logo
<yangxuan> if the vendor uboot detect linux on usb, it able to boot for other os, so it should not related to bootloader, I guess it's kernel
<chewitt> is there an SD card slot?
<yangxuan> no, this box only have two usb 2.0 port
<chewitt> narmstrong: ^^ what's the older uboot like with booting USB devices?
<chewitt> ISTR that's something supported on quite recent uboot versions
<chewitt> yangxuan: which logo do you see - box vendor splash or LE splash?
<yangxuan> the vendor uboot on my box emmc support boot from usb
<yangxuan> the vendor splash
<chewitt> is there a reset button on the box?
<chewitt> pin hole button
<chewitt> most boxes need you to hold the button in with a tootpick or paperclip, then power on and release the pin after 6-7 seconds
<chewitt> or they don't check for external boot media
<chewitt> 99% of boxes have the same (ancient) 2015 era uboot
<chewitt> btw, i'm using the same kernel on all devices; GXBB thru to GXL, the only difference is the device tree(s)
<chewitt> are you 100% sure it's an S905D device?
<chewitt> because https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/linux-phicomm-n1/ this repo looks like something for an RK chip
<yangxuan> sure, I build alpine kernel package myself
<yangxuan> chewitt, there is working old build LE from other user, the boot scripts seems kind of different
<yangxuan> his uEnv.ini: bootargs=rootfs=ramfs init=/init boot=LABEL=LIBREELEC disk=LABEL=STORAGE BOOT_IMAGE=kernel.img hdmitx=cecf console=ttyS0,115200n8 console=tty0 no_console_suspend consoleblank=0 systemd.show_status=auto logo=osd1,loaded,0x3d800000,576cvbs maxcpus=4 vout=576cvbs,enable hdmimode=720p60hz
<yangxuan> if the init=/init is necessary?
<chewitt> which user and where?
<chewitt> /proc/cmdline will show all kinds of junk
<chewitt> it's not uncommon to see boot= and disk= defined 2-3 times
<yangxuan> a user on local chinese forum
<yangxuan> and his s905_autoscript use booti command, I guess need patch kernel OFFSET first to use booti for old vendor uboot?
<chewitt> I'm not that clued up on uboot stuff
<yangxuan> 150balbes armbian apply this patch, I'm not sure if this equal to your LE options: ANDROID_BOOTIMG_OPTIONS="--base 0x0 --kernel_offset 0x1080000"
<chewitt> no idea .. I not joking about not being clued up on boot stuff
<chewitt> as long as it works I don't touch it :)
<yangxuan> well, just tried 150balbes 4.x build, it work for my device, he use booti, and kernel is Image instead of kernel.img, guess it's the offset and vendor uboot cauesd my build not work

<ldevulder> hi! it seems that my u-boot on emmc is broken on my kvim board, but even if I put a sdcard it tries to boot on emmc... As I can't remove the emmc, is there a way to force boot on sdcard?

<ccaione> ldevulder: what I used to do is to ground the data / CS line of the eMMC when powering on to force fallback onto the SD

<ldevulder> ccaione, ok thx, I will try this
<ldevulder> if I can do it easily, as I dont see the pin of the emmc :)
<ccaione> BGA ?
<ldevulder> yes
<ccaione> check if you still have access to some pin point
<ldevulder> ccaione, I'm looking at the kvim docs, because as I remember there is a way to short a pin to boot, so maybe it's what you're saying
sputnik_ has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds]
<ccaione> maybe, I'm not familiar with the kvim, sorry
<ldevulder> I have a maskrom than I can short
