hi there. Don't know if you could be insterested but I have published a tool to open source aml_encrypt_gxl based of a reverse engineering I made of this binary. Code is here https://github.com/repk/gxlimg.
<poulecaca>
I am able to encrypt bl2, bl30, bl31 and u-boot and create the final FIP image
<warpme_>
poulecaca: Very interesting!. I’m a bit new in s905 world. Is gxlimg tool for building u-boot loader based on current mainline u-boot + ATF mandatory for booting s905 ?
<poulecaca>
warpme_: It's not for building those binaries, it is for encrypting all those binaries and making a bootable image.
<poulecaca>
It is a replacement of aml_encrypt_gxl if you want
<warpme_>
right. I used incorrect word: building. Probably better word will be „merging’? Anyway - may I say that gxlimg allows us to have currrent mainline u-boot for s905?
<poulecaca>
No I don't know what is missing in the current mainline u-boot for s905x but I don't think they waited for a tool that just encrypt u-boot's bl33 binary. Also such a tool already existed for s905 (not s905x).
<adema_>
i will try to boot my le potato board with your tool later today, ill let you know

Ok. thx. I’m playing with 905w (tx3-mini) and armbian to learn how to boot linux from SD card on tx3-mini in my project. Maybe You now what bootloader armbian is using on tx3-mini? Is it eMMC flasher heavelly amlogic patched u-boot or rather mainline u-boot?
<warpme_>
s/flasher/flashed
<poulecaca>
oups sorry I don't know anything about 905w
<warpme_>
IIRC it is kind of ‚lite’ version of 905x (4k only at 30p; lower price)

warpme_, uboot mainline supports aml-s905x-cc (le potato) since a few release already
<adema_>
i just booted an uptodate uboot mainline with poulecaca 's tool
<warpme_>
perfect. Unfortunatelly I have s905w based tx3-mini which I’m trying to boot. Unfortunatelly it seems be in reseting loop with no any output on screen….
