<xdarklight> narmstrong: nice to see the OTG patches revived :-)
<narmstrong> xdarklight: yeah finally !
<narmstrong> xdarklight: thanks for your initial work
<xdarklight> you're welcome, thanks for finishing it!
<xdarklight> different topic, maybe also as exciting: does anybody know a SoC which uses the "Analogix HDMI 1.4 TX IP"? I'm pretty sure that the 32-bit Meson SoCs use that, but I have trouble initializing the EDID/I2C clocks correctly (at least I assume that, because most of the time I only read garbage EDID)
<narmstrong> did you look at the anx78xx registers ?maybe they use the same IP, or a variant in their SoCs...
<narmstrong> EDID/I2C is always complicated to make correctly, if you don't manage, simply use the GPIO I2C and pass the i2c controller via the hdmi connector
<narmstrong> you will be able to add the embedded i2c controller in a second time
<narmstrong> unless you enabled HDCP, you don't need it
<xdarklight> all in-tree Analogix registers look very different unfortunately :/
<narmstrong> :-/
<xdarklight> hmm, that reminds me: I have a HDMI breakout board somewhere. I hope I can use that to verify the I2C bus frequency

<xdarklight> narmstrong: GPIO I2C for DDC was a great idea. with many hacks I get this: https://abload.de/img/img_20200324_182816klke9.jpg
<narmstrong> wow, pretty close !!
<narmstrong> do you try interlaced ?
<narmstrong> avoid it, interlaced on HDMI is a nightname
<narmstrong> nightmare*
<narmstrong> (but maybe it's not)

<xdarklight> I just boot my Odroid-C1 with whatever the bootloader sets, then run glmark2-es2-drm and get this
<narmstrong> did you try modetest to see the color mire ?
<xdarklight> which command is that exactly?
<xdarklight> ah that's part of drm
<narmstrong> AuyHQ7MQafZhSySj8Wfd
<narmstrong> erf
<narmstrong> yep it's part of libdrnm
<narmstrong> you can force different modes
<narmstrong> and see a colorful mire
<narmstrong> to debug
<narmstrong> and you can play with the planes and the plane formats
<narmstrong> it becomes very limited when you try complex stuff but it's very handy
