<benoitm974> Hi here, I'm planing into cluster 5 H9 X3 S905X3 setop box under linux for the "fun" of it and maybe then have them running a kubernetes for homelabs / learning.

<benoitm974> before buying those I'm looking to extract DTB from the android firmware to ensure I would be able to do it. I have tried binwalk, perl split image and python extract dtb but none worked, they all scan the image for DOODFEED #hex and find 4 of them, the second one is a fragment of DTB containing a amlogic dummy battery description, but the main DTB
<benoitm974> seems broken any idea ?

<benoitm974> Looking at the channel archive it seems @hexdump0815 has done it with another android dtb, would you know how/which tool was used for this ?

<hexdump0815> benoitm974: you might use this script - https://github.com/hexdump0815/u-boot-misc/tree/master/misc.h616-legacy/android-device-tree-copy - just install a terminal app in android and run it from some usb stick or sd card on it - worked always for me so far - not even root is required
<hexdump0815> benoitm974: and it will give you the really running dtb
