leming: if everything is all right, I should be able to build u-boot for snow now.
<swabbles>
Which means I should be able to change the environment in such a way that you won't need a boot script by default :).

swabbles, i'm already working on changes for our release to act like a uboot from this decade, and follow conventions used in all of the other uboots we distribute for other systems
<swabbles>
With the kpart-files that are currently available or?
<leming>
building from source
<swabbles>
How are you building u-boot for snow then?
<swabbles>
Because I seem to be missing something :).
<leming>
not worrying about that at the moment.. everyone is used to the way that works now
<leming>
have a clean slate to do things right for the chromebook2

:)
<Wizzup>
probably in a few days I will see if I can fix the fb0 problem
<Wizzup>
out of pure agony
<Wizzup>
you guys don't actually use the armsoc driver do you?
<Wizzup>
I mean, from day to day
<Wizzup>
It's so horrible, I cannot even go to certain websites without it crashing - reliably
<WarheadsSE>
Hmm, which websites?
<Wizzup>
dutch news site for one
<WarheadsSE>
But atm, I do have the armsoc-chromium HEAD~1
<Wizzup>
if I open it in firefox, a crash is imminent within seconds
<WarheadsSE>
okay, stop there: Firefox.
<Wizzup>
> blaming firefox for ddx crashes
<WarheadsSE>
Nah, I am just saying I can not replicate it. We don't even build FF
<Wizzup>
well, I prefer choice, and I also much prefer firefox
<Wizzup>
don't go down that road, nothing useful lies ahead
<WarheadsSE>
:) We don't build it because of the linking overhead and completely native ld'ing
<WarheadsSE>
It's 95% just how our farm works
<WarheadsSE>
5% zomg wtf memory hog
<Wizzup>
chromium takes much more resourches to build
<Wizzup>
resources* even
<WarheadsSE>
Yet linking chromium doesn't smash & crap out
* WarheadsSE
shrug
<WarheadsSE>
mirodi, dwm, chromium, a few others we have. FF has traditionally been an issue with memory during linking
<Wizzup>
gcc recentely improved the performance of their linker a lot iirc
<Wizzup>
also wrt mem usage
<Wizzup>
the main problem I have with firefox on arm is that mozilla keeps messing with neon
<Wizzup>
As in, they break the build process
<Wizzup>
right, have to go

chromium requires vastly less resources to build than anything Mozilla
<leming>
and yeah, Mozilla devs can't seem to figure out that they just need to let packagers specify cflags, and their only job is to write code, and not control my build just because uname says ARM
<WarheadsSE>
^ :p
<leming>
I've been tempted to submit a PR that sets very specific and highly incompatible cflags when x86 is detected
<WarheadsSE>
hahah
<WarheadsSE>
Make sure you use MIPS -mtune when it's detected.
<leming>
I'd just set it to some very specific setup for an i7 or something
afaerber has joined #linux-exynos
<leming>
they obviously think there is only one way to build for ARM, so it's valid to assume you can only build one way for x86
<Wizzup>
leming: It had nothing to do with flags but with files that were included
<Wizzup>
and they've fixed all known issues afaik
<Wizzup>
I don't see why you need to bash mozilla

WarheadsSE: I compile with swap
<Wizzup>
on IFC6410's and previously on an odroid
<WarheadsSE>
We tried that a while back
<WarheadsSE>
and just haven't re-tried in a while

On an odroid XU with swap on an SSD over USB3
