<rperier> mmind00: hey, btw how do you test easily your fresh built uboot on your board ? (like you did on your rk3188-based board) using the maskrom ?
<mmind00> rperier: the rk3188 is very special here, as any sd-card with a valid boot image takes precedence over everything else
<rperier> oh really, I did not know that, interesting
<mmind00> rperier: sadly only on rk3188 alone though
<rperier> arf :(
<mmind00> rperier: for other boards the general way is to disable emmcs by shorting some CLKF pin to ground ... old boards like the firefly only have testpoints for this
<mmind00> rperier: while new boards like kyling and the rk3399-evb have actual real buttons (that are doing the same)
<rperier> I can also fill the internal nand or emmc with zero (to invalidate completly the SPL and uboot) and boot the SPL+uboot directly from an sdcard no?

<rperier> oh new boards have real buttons for that, smart
<wadim_> why is rockchip providing own gstreamer plugins?
<mmind00> wadim_: ask Rockchip :-) , but I'd guess because the v4l integration is not ready yet
<wadim_> so the vpu drivers available in the 4.4 kernel are not v4l compatible?
<mmind00> wadim_: I really don't know how that everything fits together ... if the gstreamer stuff has sources, you could look at what special magic it is doing

<wadim_> yea, me neither. I will ask Randy for more clarification first. Thx

<phh> wadim_ as far as i've read, it is a drm driver on kernel side, so no standard API is used
<phh> But stdint might explain
<phh> I guess that was an easier way to have h265. ChromiumOS' v4l way seem to be a dead(or very slow)-end, hence gwtting away from v4l
