<raphari> hi all, i am trying to enable spi1 for rk3399 and use it from userspace . when spidev driver loads it crashes (https://pastebin.com/8TF1gxnc). any pointers?
<raphari> I did the following patch to rk3399-sapphire-excavator-linux.dts file https://pastebin.com/947N342d
<Ke> heh, yet another rk3399 sbc
<raphari> i can see "/dev/spidev1.0" node though
<hunderteins> raphari: I don't know much about spi, but don't you need to define a spi-driver like rockchip,rk3399-spi in 4.4
<raphari> i see two spi drivers rockchip spi driver & user space spidev enabled in the menuconfig
<hunderteins> look into rk3399.dtsi, there is a definition of spi1: spi@ff1d0000, binding into rockchip,rk3399-spi thats the rockchip spi driver from menuconfig
<raphari> hunderteins: seems rockchip spi driver & spidev dr
<hunderteins> could be, one for the controller and one for protocol or whatever userspace magic is to be done

<raphari> hunderteins: thanks, is rk3399-sapphire-excavator-linux.dts right place to add custom configs
<hunderteins> raphari: I think you just enable things from the rk3399.dtsi and supplement board specifics. Don't think the spi on the rk3399 is board specific.
