<mfny> hi all, is this the right place to talk Firefly/Libre Computer rockchip stuff ?
<vagrantc> possibly
<mfny> thinking of buying a ROCK960
<mfny> thoughts ?

<stdint> mfny, it is a good board
<stdint> also rock64pro is good
vstehle has joined #linux-rockchip
<vagrantc> mfny: also really depends on what you want it for
<vagrantc> video output? headless build machine? autonomous robot brain?
<vagrantc> i've mostly done headless build machines of dubious capability
<vagrantc> where mainline support is far more important than having all the possible features supported

<mfny> vagrantc: i want it for gpio related things, switches/buttons,lights,sensors etc
<mfny> so gpio support is important in kernel
<mfny> vagrantc: so would a baord like 960 be k ?
<mfny> ok
<vagrantc> both the rockpro64 and rock960 are fairly new in terms of mainline linux support
<vagrantc> i don't have experience with either
<mfny> rock64pro vs rock960 ?
<mfny> rock64pro seems to have better community ?

<lvrp16> ldevulder: testing out lxd clustering on them
<Esmil> lvrp16: do they have sata/pci ?
<lvrp16> no SATA since that would need a bridge chip and not everyone needs it
<lvrp16> 4 lane pci-e for nvme
<Esmil> You should run ceph on them then :P
<lvrp16> i don't have the case for it, this is a beta unit
<lvrp16> i'm not a big fan of ceph
<ldevulder> lvrp16, I just hope to have this board supported on mainline u-boot :D
<lvrp16> as long as rockchip provides the lpddr4 spl which they should
<lvrp16> considering there's a bunch of rk3399 lpddr4 designs now
<Esmil> no, i worked at a place with like the 2nd largest ceph setup at the time. it was hell to administrate properly, but also kind of fun working with storage at that scale
<ldevulder> lvrp16, will see for spl
