<mmind00> tomeu: just as a heads up, v4 looks good now ... now we'll wait a bit to give Rob the chance to look at the binding addition part
<tomeu> great, thanks for telling

<DuClare> I'm a bit confused, is the boot process (rk3288) for eMMC versus external SD card identical or not? In other words, if I have an SD card that boots, can I just flash a copy of that image to eMMC and expect it to boot?
<DuClare> After changing the kernel rootfs device, I guess

<mystictot> Hi, Does anyone know what is the TZ ram Address and its size for rockchip rk3288 board?

<mmind00> DuClare: I think that should work

<DuClare> mmind00: Hmm so I'm currently booting with a minimal setup that consists of dos disklabel, uboot spl (w/dtb) + uboot and a fat filesystem with the kernel with initramfs for rootfs
<DuClare> Basically getting uboot spl with the rockchip image header starting at sector 64 is all it takes to tick
<DuClare> I see that rockchip has some proprietary partition format, which the flash utilities like to use
<mmind00> DuClare: yep, that's also what I've done when flashing things to emmc in the past
<DuClare> And there's CONFIG_RK_PARTITION option in the kernel
<DuClare> So I can ignore all this rockchip stuff and go on with my simplistic setup?
<mmind00> DuClare: nope ... that's independent of the bootloader location itself
<mmind00> DuClare: yes for the second question :-) ... aka the RK_PARTITION stuff is only really used _inside their_ uboot and kernel ... the uboot location itself doesn't care
<mmind00> DuClare: as long as your device has an eMMC, not some nand-flash
<DuClare> It shows up as mmcblk2, using dwmmc_rockchip I believe
<mmind00> DuClare: yep, emmc then

<DuClare> mmind00: Do you have experience with mainline vs rockchip-linux?
<DuClare> I'm thinking it'd be nice to stay with mainline if the support is good
<DuClare> kernel, that is
<mmind00> DuClare: not really, I'm only ever doing mainline and really try not to look at the vendor kernel ... after all I maintain that ;-)
<beeble> if the peripheral you need is supported in mainline
<beeble> stick with mainline
<mmind00> DuClare: what beeble said :-D
<beeble> for a unbiased 3rd party opinion :)
<beeble> +n
<DuClare> Yea, I don't suppose I need much in terms of peripheral support.

<DuClare> The vendor stuff is such garbage anyway
<DuClare> Every single compilation failure (and there's a bunch of them) I've run into have been to do with rockchip's own code, which I inevitably end up just disabling :)
