<archetech_> lotta probs with my new rock64
<archetech_> usb nic cpu limited to sigle core while compiling
<archetech_> arch/manajro so far
<archetech_> manjaro
<tuxd3v> what kernel?
<archetech_> 5.4
<tuxd3v> does you have the Lima driver working?
<archetech_> no im just building from source over ssh
<archetech_> various pkgs
<archetech_> headless
<tuxd3v> yeah Iam trying to build Lima Userspace driver..
<archetech_> been there i used mesa-git
<archetech_> for plasma
<tuxd3v> you are using X11?
<tuxd3v> I am with some problems configuring X11..
<archetech_> no lima dont support that afaik
<anarsoul> lima works fine with X11
<archetech_> fbturbo maybe
<tuxd3v> anarsoul, does you managed to build userpsace driver and configure it correctly in xorg.conf?
<archetech_> but its llvm softpipe nasty slow
<anarsoul> you don't need to configure it in xorg.conf
<tuxd3v> I tried fbturbo, also with mixed results..
<tuxd3v> X lof file shows some errors..
<anarsoul> archetech_: it won't work with fbturbo, you need modesetting
<tuxd3v> lof -> log
<archetech_> I did use mode its still llvm pipe
<archetech_> uses the dang cpu for graphics
<archetech_> I tried building mesa-git for gles2 and started plasma as a wayland egl session thats the right way still not good yet
<archetech_> that mesa-20 from git
<archetech_> the latest
<tuxd3v> anarsoul, thanks, but were do you configure it if not in xorg.conf?
<anarsoul> Xorg is smart enough to pick it up on its own
<archetech_> tux u let xorg do its thing no .conf file
<tuxd3v> how boy.. maybe that is my problem... :S
<tuxd3v> how does I know it his picking the correct driver?
<archetech_> from looking at you xoeg log
<archetech_> xorg
kevery1 has joined #linux-rockchip
<tuxd3v> I believe he is always picking fbdev
<archetech_> and you can run glxinfo during x session
<tuxd3v> I haven't tried yet
<tuxd3v> I am also via ssh :D
<archetech_> thats no way to test X

<anarsoul> tuxd3v: archetech_: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/lima/web
<tuxd3v> thanks
<tuxd3v> I forgot about this one: Option "AutoAddGPU" "off"
<tuxd3v> it add both cores but they fails to find Bus and fallsback to something..
<archetech_> wonder if strit knows about this
<tuxd3v> anarsould: Section "OutputClass"
<tuxd3v> thanks a lot
<archetech_> its 4 months old
<archetech_> prefer to see gles2 vs X progress but thats me
<archetech_> that way the gpu is used to render things
<archetech_> but I get gem mem faults
<archetech_> not a dev so dont know if its mesa drm kernel w/e
<archetech_> or qt5-es2
<tuxd3v> well X as a lot of facilities to configure things..
<tuxd3v> mouse , keyboards, and a plethora of things..
<archetech_> built my own arm OS from source to test things on
<archetech_> Host: blfs-rock Kernel: 5.4.1-1-ARCH aarch64 bits: 64 Console: tty 0
<archetech_> Distro: ARM Linux From Scratch 20200106-systemd
<archetech_> Machine: Type: ARM Device System: Pine64 Rock64

<tuxd3v> I got this in xorg log:
<tuxd3v> [ 17.238] (WW) VGA arbiter: cannot open kernel arbiter, no multi-card support
<tuxd3v> we have 2 cores
<tuxd3v> card0,card1
<tuxd3v> but only 0 is used?
<tuxd3v> with Lima and modesetting?
<archetech_> ww is a warning
<archetech_> ee is whats bad
<anarsoul> tuxd3v: that's not cores
<anarsoul> one is display card
<tuxd3v> I believe that Lima can only drive displays with 1280x1024 right?
<anarsoul> (likely rockchip-drm in your case)
<anarsoul> another is renderer (lima)
<anarsoul> lima doesn't drive displays, it's job of display driver
<tuxd3v> right
<tuxd3v> for some reason when starting kernel it autosuspends display..
<tuxd3v> will try with: Option "StandbyTime" "0", Option "SuspendTime" "0"
<tuxd3v> it ignores: Option "SwapbuffersWait" "true"
<tuxd3v> but via modesetting is showing something normal at boot time, when kernel starts to boot
<archetech_> try using start with xterm in xinitrc
<archetech_> dont need ade to testr x
<archetech_> dont need a de to test x
<archetech_> startx

<tuxd3v> (II) modeset(0): Not using mode "1680x1050_60.00" (hsync out of range)
<tuxd3v> I had a empty device section..
archetech_ has quit [Quit: Konversation terminated!]
<tuxd3v> using fbdev it works
<tuxd3v> Ĩ can login in fluxbox environemnt
<tuxd3v> display enters in powersaving mode..
<anarsoul> tuxd3v: it sets 640x480 according to your log
<anarsoul> maybe your display doesn't like it
<anarsoul> no idea
<anarsoul> anyway as I said earlier lima has nothing to do with display
<inode> ruxdev: to use modesetting on another device (rk3229 based though) - i have to force the connector into the enabled state with "video=HDMI-A-1:e" and request fake edid firmware via "drm.edid_firmare=edid/...", otherwise only fbdev works

<tuxd3v> no way..
<tuxd3v> with xserver-xorg-video-fbdev
<tuxd3v> everything works but its not acelerated
<tuxd3v> without it, screen goes to standby mode
<tuxd3v> does any one has a working setup, and is heager to provide me with a X log ?
<tuxd3v> so tbat I can compare?
