<adamvy> It looks like a dram driver for RK3328 was added to u-boot upstream, has anyone tried this on firefly-rk3328? Or roc-rk3328-cc which i guess is the same board?
<adamvy> I build upstream u-boot for evb_rk3328 and on the firefly board. It successfully loads the TPL and lots to UART, but fails to init dram.
<archetech> adamvy, hey I cant boot anything new just old 4.4 based images
<archetech> idk why
<archetech> on rock64
<archetech> arch boots maninline but cant compile /wo segvs

<adamvy> unfortunate. Looks like at least some of my problem is that the evalutation board config has different ram than the firefly. 4GB of DDR3, but my board has 2GB of DDR4. Will try tweaking the sdram-params but i have no idea what I'm doing :)
<archetech> theres rk3328-evb vs plain rock64 in dtbs
<archetech> and rock64-cc
<archetech> rk3328-cc*
<archetech> so yeah theres variants

<adamvy> hmm yeah, I can get their u-boot to run https://github.com/FireflyTeam/u-boot, so I guess I'll see if I can get an upstream kernel to boot.
<archetech> if its 5.4 or newer I can test it on on older v2 r64 1gb ddr3 I think
<archetech> if its armbian idk what distro you are using
<adamvy> Aiming for stock debian using a custom kernel/u-boot where necessary, but we'll see where I end up lol

<adamvy> stock 5.5 almost boots using vendor's u-boot. Doesn't seem to find the sdcard for some reason

<adamvy> for anyone who cares I got linux-5.5 mainline to boot on the roc-rk3328-cc/firefly board. Turns out the device tree entry for the sdmmcio-regulator was wrong. I'll try to get a patch upstream
<adamvy> successfully boots to a debian 10 console, no idea what does and doesn't work
<adamvy> beyond that
