<Valduare>
k so edit that save the file, anything special after that or just pop it back in the mk802 and boot?
<Turl>
you need usb_host_init_state = 1 to turn it on
<libv>
Valduare: you need to convert it back to a .bin
<Valduare>
ah
<Valduare>
i'll have to get setup for that still
<Valduare>
I dont have the tools downloaded
<libv>
so, the minixandroid wordpress guy wrote: "Uhm it would be nice if my information is not substituted on sunxi. So i dont' want to loose visitors to sunxi because it has a better ranking on Google, because my info is already there. Then they don't have to visit my blog."
<libv>
and i answered: "Fair enough, i will not directly transplant any info or pictures from your blog to the sunxi wiki. There will be no link from the sunxi wiki to your blog either."
<libv>
that'll sow quite a bit of doubt over his chosen strategy.
<Valduare>
so this fex file is what I edit and then convert/ override script.bin with the new changes?
<Valduare>
not sure I know how this works yet lol
<libv>
Valduare: the full build howto is referenced from the new device howto page
<Valduare>
ok
<Valduare>
ok family wants to eat dinner... let me get the Grill going then i'll be back on and get those tools setup from the wiki to get this going

<Turl>

<libv>

<libv>
i am not seeing any either
<Turl>
yeah, I get that, but why does he care about page rank and that kind of stuff so much?
<libv>
i don't see that either
<libv>
especially since he has failed to grasp that he is mostly irrelevant anyway
<libv>
and that the best thing he could do is get the crucial info somewhere safe and easily accessible
<Turl>

<Swivel_>
Hey all
<Swivel_>
Trying to update the fex file for my device, but I’ve hit a snag.
<Swivel_>
Anyone available to lend a hand?
<razlept>
Swivel_:
<razlept>
i will try..
<Swivel_>
Thanks razlept. I’m working with my A23 tablet. It’s a generic chinese Q8H tablet. The device specified in the fex file is “A23 A70H”. I pulled down the script0.fex file from nanda, and it’s about 37484 bytes.
<Swivel_>
When I converted it to fex, the size stood at about 8169 bytes. Substantially smaller. When I look at the sys_config.fex for generic Polaris A23 devices in the A23 SDK, the fex file is about 52442 bytes.
<Swivel_>
Granted it has a lot of comments. So I removed the comments and the file size is still about 21996 bytes, compared to the fex file produced by the bin of 8169 bytes.
<Swivel_>
I’ve made some modifications to the fex file I pulled from the device, but I’m a little worried about sending it back over to the device. That seems much smaller than it should be.
<Swivel_>
Once I convert it back to a bin file, it stands at 15636 bytes… compared to the original fex file of 37484 bytes.
<Swivel_>
Am I putting too much thought into this, or does it seem like the fex file I’ve got may be missing a substantial amount of instructions?
<razlept>
why you dont the script.bin from you A23 and decompile it to fex ?
<Swivel_>
I don’t understand. Grab the script.bin files from my A23 tablet and decompile it to fex?
<Swivel_>
I did that already. That’s the file we’re talking about that came out to be 8169. The script.bin from my device is 37484 bytes. When it is decompiled, it is 8169. When I recompile it (without changing anything) it comes out to be 15636.
<Swivel_>
I’m not sure if the manufacturer uses a different method of compiling their fex files to bin, but that’s a big difference in numbers. (37484 compared to 15636).
<Swivel_>
I’m just wondering if it is normal for there to be a difference in size like that?
FreezingCold has joined #linux-sunxi
<Swivel_>
Hey FreezingCold
<razlept>
hm.. i cant answer to that
<Swivel_>
razlept, I kind of figured. There’s not a whole lot out there for these A23 devices yet. I found some interesting resources in the linux-sunxi Google Group regarding Q8H tablets. Their fex file is 17423, and it compiles to 35312, which seems much more likely to be a proper file. I’m not sure if fexc just isn’t decompiling my fex file properly or what.
<Swivel_>
I have no clue where that massive gap is coming from.
<Swivel_>
Thanks anyway, razlept.
<Swivel_>
Hopefully I’ll find the answer somewhere :P
