<MX-Master> KotCzarny: just tested my ARISC blob and loader with Armbian legacy kernel (3.4.113) and it works!
kaspter has joined #linux-sunxi
<MX-Master> I made a dump of SRAM A2 before any manipulations and found out there is an another firmware out there
<MX-Master> when I use the Armbian mainline, memory dumper shows just a trash at similar location
pepee has quit [Quit: bye $IRC]
<wens> qschulz: after testing, it seems the AXP813 has the same behavior for VBUS
<KotCzarny> MX-Master: so as i've said, something is interrupting sram a2 with mainline
<KotCzarny> it would be nice to find a workaround
<KotCzarny> and it might not be firmware, but atf or psci or whatever is using that memory region
<MX-Master> I think the legacy kernel have some additional tweaks for the arisc, and there's no such tweaks inside the mainline, I'll try to find out
aalm has joined #linux-sunxi
<KotCzarny> and i was successfully using my h3fakeoff with 4.13/14
<MX-Master> was your mainline kernel built by Armbian?
<MX-Master> it's possible that some armbian patches makes some tweaks with SRAM A2
<KotCzarny> no, my own kernel build
<KotCzarny> but i've also tested 4.14 from armbian
<KotCzarny> but still, uboot was my own build
<MX-Master> may be it's an answer, I'll check the uboot code too..
<KotCzarny> since i'm using the same uboot for booting legacy kernels

<qschulz> embed-3d: I haven't followed your discussion but I can tell you not to trust AW datasheet. They said A33 supports IRQ for thermal sensor, it does not.
<qschulz> so maybe A83t does not support IRQ as well, I don't know. Only testing can give us the answer :)
<qschulz> a good base is to take the kernel from AW (which is old and not pretty) and 1) check it works, 2) check what they do to make it work in the kernel

<embed-3d> qschulz: Thanks for that hint! The AW kernel supports the interrupts, but they trigger for the alarm and shut interrupt. I want to trigger the "data ready" interrupt.

<qschulz> embed-3d: yeah, the A33 does not trigger data ready interrupt, you can read the register any time and the data is apparently correct (in my experience)

<embed-3d> qschulz: yes you are right. thats how I doing it currently in my patch series with the a83t. I'm also in contact with tbs-biometrics and it sounds like they got it up running. At the moment I think I'm doing something wrong!

<qschulz> but good to know someone's working on new patches for the H3 (and other SoCs :) )
<icenowy[m]> qschulz: I abandoned :-)
<embed-3d> qschulz: yes I think so, I used icenowy[m] patches as basis but reworked the code completly. Those patches that are based on icenowy[m] patches and only were updated to be applyable to the current linux contain also a Signed-off-by: Icenowy Zheng <icenowy@aosc.io>. I hope this is ok?

<MX-Master> KotCzarny: I think I found out why the arisc firmware doesn't work with armbian mainline..
<MX-Master> because arisc isn't clocked at all :)) but in the legacy kernel arisc is clocked and uses one of allwinner blobs
<KotCzarny> hmm, interesting
<KotCzarny> MX-Master: did you confirm it by enabling arisc clocks or just guessing?
<MX-Master> just guessing. Will test it tomorrow with mainline image

<smaeul> KotCzarny: mripard: CONFIG_ARMV7_SECURE_BASE undefined for sun8i means PSCI on H3 runs from DRAM (see arch/arm/cpu/u-boot.lds)
<smaeul> sun6i and sun7i have #define CONFIG_ARMV7_SECURE_BASE SUNXI_SRAM_B_BASE
<KotCzarny> would be nice to move psci into sram a1
<KotCzarny> on h3/h5
<smaeul> KotCzarny: so on H3 there shouldn't be any conflicts with putting arisc fw in a2
<smaeul> on mainline
<KotCzarny> you mean it's undefined by default?
<smaeul> yeah, CONFIG_ARMV7_SECURE_BASE is undefined by default
<KotCzarny> ho hum
<KotCzarny> i wonder if armbian folks do define it
<KotCzarny> because it's either that, or not clocked arisc
