Hey guys. I hear the PayPal stuff is all resolved. Is that true?
<MonkeyofDoom>
herpderphurr: I think the funds have been released but changes need to be made to prevent future donations from suffering an identical fate
<herpderphurr>
oh
<MonkeyofDoom>
but I could be wrong, I haven't read an official post on the latter half

hey there. I see the "PayPal trouble mostly solved. Project gets a 'GO' again." headline on the page but it only links to the old article explaining the PayPal situation. what's the actual status?
<aef>
so the project got access to the full funding again?
<aef>
and was able to get it all out of the PayPal account before they decide to block it again=?
<DocScrutinizer05>
0ß%, rest trickling in during next 2 months
<DocScrutinizer05>
90% even
<DocScrutinizer05>
yes, most got transfered to bank account
<DocScrutinizer05>
it's a bit of a pity since payments particularly to asia would be simpler via PP
<aef>
what about Skrill?
<aef>
isn't that an alternative?
<DocScrutinizer05>
never heard that
<aef>
it's a rather new alternative to PayPal by Moneybookers
<DocScrutinizer05>
we'll look into it

will it be possible to run an unmodified Debian GNU/Linux on the final device? or are you talking about a non-official port based on Debian?
<DocScrutinizer05>
official Debian should just run, except for the device specific details that are not upstreamed (yet)
<aef>
so you have Debian developers on board?
<aef>
or are cooperating with them?
<DocScrutinizer05>
yet to be seen which parts those are, I don't expect much trouble, all our chips are already supported in mainline afaik
<DocScrutinizer05>
aef: Neo900 UG doesn't engage in software development, we provide a hardware that's sufficiently documented to run / port all OS you like, to it
<DocScrutinizer05>
just yesterday however I asked freemangordon to build a free-maemo image to test how much of maemo we need to import from binary. Debian should really run out of the box
<DocScrutinizer05>
aef: I mean, it's basically still a BeagleBoard
<aef>
is it?
<aef>
i didn't realize any similarity to it yet
<DocScrutinizer05>
yes, we actually use BB-xM as our 'brainboard' extension for proto_v2, hooked up to the CPU-less Neo900 PCB with cables
SylvieLorxu has joined #neo900
<DocScrutinizer05>
the similarity is in components and circuit, not in the look and formfactor :-)
<aef>
never heard of BB-xM, but i know the BB Black
<DocScrutinizer05>
Neo900 is N900 compatible by definition, so...
<DocScrutinizer05>
oops it's about easydeb running in a chroot, it seems. Well, there are videos and blogs about installing debian native as well, I guess
<quatrox>
DocScrutinizer05: How is it going with securing the neo900 components?
<DocScrutinizer05>
actually Neo900 UG recommends devuan
<DocScrutinizer05>
quatrox: we're just starting on this again, since... PP issue
<quatrox>
DocScrutinizer05: Did the PP issue get resolved?
