<djang0o>
hi
<djang0o>
when is planned the shipping?
<DocScrutinizer05>
Hi! Planned for 2nd quarter of this year. However PayPal disaster delayed our complete schedule, and now Nikolaus announced that he has no significant amount of free timeslots for us during next 6-9 months, which means we need to find an alternative for doing the layout, thus I can't state anything reasonably binding right now
<DocScrutinizer05>
it's already almost clear that 2nd quarter is an over optimistic estimation.
<djang0o>
:/
<djang0o>
too bad
<DocScrutinizer05>
yes, we're not happy with this either
<djang0o>
missing my n900 so much
<djang0o>
arent u affraid that the hardware get old too fast meanwhile it really start shiping ? :p
<DocScrutinizer05>
if you order a Neo900 but want to do the PCB upgrade yourself, we could already send you the N900 which is part of the Neo900 full device package
<djang0o>
hmm
<djang0o>
well
<djang0o>
is the usb socket resistant this time?
<djang0o>
because my n900 died because the usb cable f*cked the usb socket...and i was not able to charge it anymore using usb cable
<DocScrutinizer05>
On Neo900? yes, definitely. We picked a USB socket that's so sturdy that rather the PCB will tear apart than the socket coming loose
<djang0o>
;)
<djang0o>
thats a good news
<DocScrutinizer05>
I could do ~usbfix to your N900 before sending it to you
<djang0o>
ah
<djang0o>
that would kick ass
<DocScrutinizer05>
I.E reinforce the USB socket of the N900 PCB
<djang0o>
what payment solutions are accepted ?
<DocScrutinizer05>
right now only bank transfer aka SEPA/SWIFT. However transferwise may help when you're in e.g. USA and SEPA payments are too expensive for you
<djang0o>
what about paypal?
hashcore has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds]
<DocScrutinizer05>
we don't offer PayPal anymore since it was the cause for the huge delay
<DocScrutinizer05>
abd PP clearly informed us that new payments as well would get frozen for 6 months
<djang0o>
bah
<djang0o>
but if shiping is starting in 6months..thats honest :p
<bencoh>
uh, 6months?
<djang0o>
i remember my n900 battery did not last 3/4 of the day
<djang0o>
is there a good solution for the neo900?
<djang0o>
still hot swapping battery ?
<DocScrutinizer05>
the problem is with data traffic over cellular. Particularly 3G is power greedy with data
<bencoh>
and background apps/widgets that cant behave
<DocScrutinizer05>
hot swapping is not warranted to be supported in the originally planned form anymore, since it would need huge volume for a buffer capacitor and we have "suspend to disk" meanwhile, which shall allow normal battery swapping after suspending the device (which shall not take longer than 10s), then after battery swap simply resume
<djang0o>
ok
<djang0o>
phones are shipped from where?
<djang0o>
usa? eu? cn?
<amatus>
i didn't know getting an n900 now was an option
<DocScrutinizer05>
EU
<DocScrutinizer05>
(option) this is a special offer just for you, from me
<djang0o>
:)
* amatus
feels special
<djang0o>
and what will the pcb upgrade will look like from n900 to neo900?
<bencoh>
moar ram, moar pu
<bencoh>
cpu*
<bencoh>
basically
<Wizzup>
and lots of other cool things :)
<bencoh>
(for the daily use)
<DocScrutinizer05>
I think I elaborated on that somewhere already. It's basically about removing 6 screws and unplug a small connector on the flex cable to screen, then take out the old PCB and put in the new sandwich PCB and the spacer frame. Then assemble again
<bencoh>
ah, that part of the upgrade :)
<djang0o>
so the screen remains the same
<DocScrutinizer05>
yes, completely
<djang0o>
ok
<djang0o>
good
<djang0o>
:)
