cc_: on hold waiting for return of key person metacollin
<DocScrutinizer05>
cc_: we're in urgent need of people to help with management
<DocScrutinizer05>
cc_: ... since I'm about to get 95% unavailable too, soon, for medical reasons
<cc_>
DocScrutinizer05: dang it, you too are killing yourself for that project
<DocScrutinizer05>
me too?
<DocScrutinizer05>
I hope I didn't confuse you with my two nicks

<cc_>
I see so many awesome people working at 200% on an opensource project and getting sick :(
<DocScrutinizer05>
yeah, exactly that
<DocScrutinizer05>
right now the "fight" is for either 90% or 100% unavailability, and for how long, but probably several months. And I need active project contributors keeping stuff running while I'm away
<DocScrutinizer05>
I've sent 2 emails to metacollin asking for a terse status update. No reply so far
<cc_>
DocScrutinizer05: what about the guy that worked on the Pyra too ?
<DocScrutinizer05>
cc_: you noticed the ToDo tmo thread?
<DocScrutinizer05>
Nikolaus? he bailed out long ago, he reached the point of "can't do that any longer" from Pyra
<cc_>
no I just watch the news on the official site :)
<cc_>
DocScrutinizer05: well the pressure is lowering on the Pyra, the hardware is soon to be completed and soon they wil put all their resources into software development, I guess that will liberate some manpower :)
<DocScrutinizer05>
prolly not since Nikolaus is definitely out and other pyra people I don't see having interest in Neo900
<DocScrutinizer05>
we switched from eagle to kicad because of Nikolaus' leave of this project, and we had to find a layouter willing and able to do the job on kicad. We found metacollin after long search. Alas he's MIA now
<DocScrutinizer05>
and I'm not up to the task anymore to fine YET ANOTHER layouter
<DocScrutinizer05>
find*
<DocScrutinizer05>
"fine" to ;-D
<DocScrutinizer05>
move to kicad was a very good one since eagle went "rogue" shortly after that, from getting eaten and frankensteinized by autodesk(?)
<DocScrutinizer05>
alas layouters for kicad are hard to find
<cc_>
DocScrutinizer05: would you say that the Pyra has "hijacked" the niche market that the Neo900 was targeting ?
<DocScrutinizer05>
no, not really. Pyra never been a "phone"
<cc_>
DocScrutinizer05: well they did add the GSM option
<DocScrutinizer05>
neither focus on phone usability and functionality (from audio all the way to standby time and ringing/vibrator and earpiece) nor focus on security/privacy
<cc_>
ok
<cc_>
well I guess I'm a bit of an outlier on this
<cc_>
I wanted a phone with a keyboard and decent fsoftware
<cc_>
I started to put my money into the Neo900
<DocScrutinizer05>
same here
<cc_>
few months later I realized I had more money than time, and that the Pyra project seemed to move faster :)
<DocScrutinizer05>
just the money I put in was the money I didn't earn last 4 years
<cc_>
so I opened my wallet again :)
<DocScrutinizer05>
aka I put in my time
<DocScrutinizer05>
yeah, Pyra always been better funded
<DocScrutinizer05>
more active people, more preorders, everything
<DocScrutinizer05>
sorry, afk
<cc_>
well I would say the success of the pandora was a reason for the hype around the Pyra but on the other hand, the neo900 is the spiritual child of the neo/GTA0*
<cc_>
so I guess we could have the same expectations
