<houkime> The mechanism of detection has changed a bit. I will just explain calibration procedure so it is clear. LED and sensor sit together and look downwards through a hole or holes. First, there is a stylus behind a hole. One plays with number of pulses per measurement and LED current so that number of ADC counts ("reflection yield") becomes big enough. this is now our "yield with stylus".
