Well, back to the new documentation generator for Batteries...
<flux>
yoric[dt], is it faster, or merely working?-)
<Yoric[DT]>
Not one second faster, I'm afraid.

soo.. jocaml doesn't do function passing even in the sense the Marshal-module can 'pass' functions?
<flux>
(Marshal can pass functions between instances of the same executable)
gdmfsob has quit [Read error: 110 (Connection timed out)]
<hcarty>
flux: There was something on the JoCaml list a while ago about passing around .cmo files and using Dynlink
<hcarty>
flux: But I don't remember the details
<flux>
that wouldn't allow passing closures, like Marshal does
<flux>
right?
<flux>
but it'd be better than nothing, and passing closures wouldn't work in a "really" distributed (not same executable) environment anyway
<flux>
and extremely cool anyway, especially if you can type-safely pass arguments to such a function
<flux>
you can encode enclosures as a non-closure function anyway with relative ease, although the code won't appear as neat
<hcarty>
flux: Yes, I imagine that is what you would have t odo
<flux>
hey, perhaps a camlp4 code to convert closures into real functions would work :)
<hcarty>
Something could probably be done with native-dynlink and toplevel code as well, if you wanted to get particularly tricky
<flux>
spawn (CLOSURE foo)
<flux>
and it would find foo from the ast, determine if it's a closure, if so, generate a version of foo that takes its free variables as a parameter etc
<flux>
but at times you might be passing values you don't know they contain functions.. that code still wouldn't work.
