<Nikkel>
Hello everyone. I have a bad problem in my code. I have an ocsigen/eliom webserver, that imports a locally installed opam package that I wrote. When I call an endpoint on the ocsigen server, the ocsigenserver prints the trace ocsigenserver.opt: ocsigen:main: While talking to ::1:connection abruptly closed by peer (Unix.Unix_error(Unix.ECONNRESET, "write", "")).
<Nikkel>
I strongly suspect that my opam package is throwing an uncaught exception somewhere, but I don't know how to get a stacktrace for this issue.
<Nikkel>
I tried running my ocsigenserver with OCAMLRUNPARAM=b=1 make test.opt , but it didn't change anything
<sgnb>
Nikkel: usually, you get an error 500 when there is an uncaught exception somewhere, with a message in warnings.log or errors.log
<sgnb>
do I understand correctly that the server doesn't even respond that?
dimitarvp has joined #ocaml
<notnotdan>
also I think you need to pass OCAMLRUNPARAM=b when running the application
<notnotdan>
when compiling you need to pass -g ( i think dune does it by default )
<Nikkel>
sgnb: Correct, it doesn't
<Nikkel>
I tried running the server with strace ocsigenserver.opt , and saw that it reported a BROKEN PIPE somewhere
<sgnb>
Nikkel: but the server listens when you run it? (with -V)
dimitarvp has quit [Quit: Bye]
<Nikkel>
sgnb: Yes
<Nikkel>
I turned the computer off and on again. It helped.
<notnotdan>
welp...
<notnotdan>
computers are magic
<Nikkel>
obvs
<Nikkel>
But thanks anyway for responding, notnotdan and sgnb

What does it mean to compare lists in ocaml? I can write [1;2] < [1;3], but what does it mean?
<octachron>
It is using the lexical order
<notnotdan>
i see, thanks

Armael: Uhm, should be public. Let me check.
<dmbaturin>
Armael: You are right. Please reload.
<dmbaturin>
I should cut down on late night posting, to be fair. ;)
<Armael>
great, thanks :)
<Armael>
it seems that lua-ml requires one to perform some dark magic incantations
<Armael>
(the result is really cool though)
Jesin has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<Armael>
is there any particular reason why you're trying to resurrect the lib?
<dmbaturin>
Armael: I want https://github.com/dmbaturin/soupault to be extensible with plugins that are easy for users to distribute (native plugins are anything but).
<Armael>
oh damn :D
<Armael>
that's some (over?) engineering right there :p
<companion_cube>
good ole' yack shaving
<dmbaturin>
Well, it's "take that" to Hugo. A worthy cause. ;)
<dmbaturin>
But yeah, it's a lot of black magic, and even more black magic inside. I'm still to find out how to get rid of a build process hack needed for the functorized parser (prologue/epilogue from the .mly don't make it to the generated .mli).
Jesin has joined #ocaml
<Armael>
I think that's a cool project anyway :)
<Armael>
are native plugins out of the way because you want to target non-ocaml programmers?
<dmbaturin>
Armael: Yes, even if I add hooks for dynlinking, I still want it to also be usable for people who have no idea what ocaml is.
<Armael>
ok, that makes sense indeed
<dmbaturin>
The templateless approach creates more need for plugins too.
