<damex>
i mean platform does not have targets that does not have FPU
<Hauke>
for the target of the sub target
<damex>
Hauke: thanks, gonna try doing that now
<damex>
doing clean build with FEATURES:=fpu
<Hauke>
check the default value for CONFIG_SOFT_FLOAT
<damex>
Hauke: it is absent. i also checked what config gets from advanced -> target options -> use softfloat by default and it is off after setting FEATURES:=fpu
<damex>
only one is connected to actual emmc, right?
<Grommish>
Well, under OEM, it was mmcblk0pX
<Grommish>
Only under the newer OpenWrt did it change to mmcblk1
<damex>
oem do lets crazy stuff and get away with
<damex>
Grommish: it is fixable. pretty easy fix
<Grommish>
I'm not worried about it now :p
<Grommish>
and they were using Chaos Calmer OEM
<Grommish>
So It isn't like I'll go back
<Grommish>
But, again, I think I lucked into much of what I managed to get done
feriman has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds]
<Grommish>
because I d idn't have to deal with dts/dtb at all.. it just.. worked
<Grommish>
and I honestly never questioned it
<damex>
no need, that extracted dts shows current state of the system you booted, i can help with adjusting device tree for your device and we will see how well octeon3 target works for you :)
<damex>
Grommish: can you also paste dmesg ? :)
<Grommish>
Is there a way to extract teh dtb from the uboot bins?
<Grommish>
Remember, uboot stage1/2 are all .bin files on my FAT partition
<Grommish>
so it isn't like I have to wrangle them to get access
<damex>
Grommish: how about switch? is there an actual hardware present? does it do anything?
<Grommish>
The frontpanel switch?
<Grommish>
or, are you talking about the network switch
<damex>
yes
<damex>
network switch
<Grommish>
Dunno.. I see references to the 88Exxxx but, I honestly bridge eth1/2 into LAN and eth0 as WAN
<Grommish>
depending on the mode
<Grommish>
I suppose switch functionality would enable vlans?
<Grommish>
Yes, except, no wifi.. they never made a Shield Pro, that was the second round that never happened
<Grommish>
I have a wifi header stub on the board where the PCI-e micro wifi card would go, but it isn't soldered in
<Grommish>
So, the right-side is correct, middle isn't
<damex>
Grommish: switch probably works as you have access to ports that it provides and they're functional. the thing is - probably there is no driver for that switch to have some extra possible functionality so generic one is used
<Grommish>
Well, what would be the next step?
<damex>
to integrate with with octeon3 target? just make use of common device tree (currently cn7130.dtsi) for your device. it is literally the same soc with some minor adjustments so we can reuse almost everything
<damex>
we can actually probably name it 70xx.dtsi or something like that.
<damex>
cn70xx.dtsi

i bit the bullet and added 3 sandbox domains, they all strip capabilties, make a large portion of the filesystem read only, limit ps view, there is another one that adds tcp network connectity on top and then there is another one that can also bind upd and tcp sockets to unreserved ports
<damex>
ohhh... i found that something is completely wrong. on stock there is secondary cache enabled for SOC (cavium3, cn7130) but on openwrt built kernel it is not. Secondary unified cache 512kB, 4-way, 1024 sets, linesize 128 bytes. is from stock
<damex>
there is corresponding option for in kernel for that... i might miss something i guess
<damex>
oh CVMSEG with 3 lines of cache
Nick_Lowe has joined #openwrt-devel
<damex>
that's not it ;(
Nick_Lowe has quit [Quit: My MacBook has gone to sleep. ZZZzzz…]
<damex>
okay, found why it does not get enabled - there is no shared cache enabled on octeons and it is only for generic mips ;(
<damex>
MIPS_CPU_SCACHE is needed or something like that
<damex>
closest dependency for it is MIPS_GENERIC
<damex>
so basically octeon-sdk patch that stuff in. hard. there is separate driver that implements l2 cache reporting ;(
