08:28 <aw-> i'm doing (unless (kill *PPid 0) (tell 'bye)) - to "tell" the other child processes to exit, but it doesn't seem to work

08:31 <aw-> i can't tell if it fails because my other processes are blocked, or because the messages are just not going through

08:32 <aw-> i think it's the later.. if the process dies, the IPC pipes etc are removed, right?
