cfbolz changed the topic of #pypy to: PyPy, the flexible snake (IRC logs: https://quodlibet.duckdns.org/irc/pypy/latest.log.html#irc-end ) | use cffi for calling C | if a pep adds a mere 25-30 [C-API] functions or so, it's a drop in the ocean (cough) - Armin

<vstinner> mattip: oh, it's already available?
<vstinner> mattip: nice
<vstinner> sometimes i hesitate to share my screen like that, but i fear that nobody will watch it. also, i don't know how to share my screen. usually when i try a new tool to record my desktop, my laptop does crash :-D
<cfbolz> that was fun, but in the end I got quite lost 😅
<cfbolz> mattip: was the audio ok?
<mattip> yes, it was great. There wasn't much video lag either
<vstinner> cfbolz: the sound quality is very good
<cfbolz> cool
<tos9> needed a raid at the end otherwise are you really twitching
<tos9> (32% serious -- it's a good way to get more viewership for next time)
<cfbolz> tos9: I don't understand twitch. what's a raid?
<tos9> cfbolz: you basically send all your viewers to another channel (of your choosing)
<tos9> and that person typically gets a notification and then gives your channel a shoutout
<tos9> (so people in that other channel now know about yours) -- e.g. asotille is streaming at the minute and likely has viewers that would have watched yours next time
<cfbolz> right
<antocuni> how many viewers were there?
<cfbolz> around 10. but seems half were pypy devs :-P
<cfbolz> but the one guy was super helpful
<antocuni> :)

<mattip> looking at the django benchmark, and comapring the pypy2.7 jit to the pypy3.7 one, it seems pypy3.7 is 4x slower
<mattip> https://speed.pypy.org/timeline/?ben=genshi_text&env=3#/?exe=9,15&base=11+2622&ben=django&env=3&revs=50&equid=off&quarts=on&extr=on
<mattip> is that expected?
