<crab>
is it possible to install dokuwiki plugins inside a sandstorm grain?
<abliss1>
I don't think it's supported in the existing docuwiki package.
<abliss1>
one could probably augment the docuwiki package with some plugins, and repackage it, without much effort.
<JacobWeisz[m]>
I think you can, crab. John was worried about breaking plugins when upgrading the DokuWiki package. I think some broke that he'd added to his grain.
<abliss1>
oh, cool! never mind me, then, sorry.
<crab>
thanks. i'll try to figure out how it works.
<JacobWeisz[m]>
If you have issues or questions, open an issue on johnbintz's repo, you'll almost certainly get a response.
<jfred>
Also re: the dokuwiki package, is it currently possible to export a static version publicly like it is for wordpress?
<jfred>
(or mediawiki)
<JacobWeisz[m]>
Not that I know of? It's a good feature request though.
<jfred>
Gotcha - I'll probably put in a feature request in for that then
<jfred>
(though I should probably also learn enough about sandstorm packaging to figure out how that works too haha)
* jfred
was thinking about using Sandstorm to manage my local hackerspace's blog and wiki, but both need to be publicly viewable
<abliss1>
if upstream docuwiki has a static export feature, it should be pretty simple -- you just point it at /var/www , and then you have to add a UI element to show the user the grain's public ID
<jfred>
appears dokuwiki doesn't have upstream support but there is a plugin for it, so seems doable

jfred Let us know how it goes, if we can't appeal to hackerspaces, we're gonna have an even harder time being used by entities that don't necessarily care that we're open source software or the like. ;)

<jfred>
For some context, it's a volunteer-run hackerspace with an extremely tight budget and I'm the currently elected CTO. Right now we have a VPS running mediawiki and wordpress but Sandstorm's easy updates and high security are very appealing
<jfred>
I do server administration in my day job so the less work it is to maintain the things I'm responsible for outside work the better haha
<JacobWeisz[m]>
I will say those two apps are pretty abandoned maintenance-wise, though due to the static publishing, WordPress is still very, very secure.
<jfred>
Right, I don't mind older software internally so long as the public-facing endpoints are secure
<jfred>
(though of course it would be nice to have more up-to-date software)
<jfred>
We've been talking about redoing the wiki anyway so moving to DokuWiki wouldn't be out of the question
<JacobWeisz[m]>
DokuWiki is probably a good candidate to get the static publishing to be added since it's pretty well maintained.

there's also mediawiki on the app market though.
<JacobWeisz[m]>
Our MediaWiki is super old though.

...I wish we could just move issues from one tracker to another.
<JacobWeisz[m]>
Heh, we can in an org. Just not to personal app repos.
