<wyang> hi guys, I found that some tracepoints are missed on fedora 21, bug?
<wyang> wyang@easystack-pc ~/w/s/qemu_systemtap> sudo stap -l 'kernel.trace("kvm*")'
<wyang> kernel.trace("kvm:kvm_ack_irq")
<wyang> kernel.trace("kvm:kvm_age_page")
<wyang> kernel.trace("kvm:kvm_async_pf_completed")
<wyang> kernel.trace("kvm:kvm_async_pf_doublefault")
<wyang> kernel.trace("kvm:kvm_async_pf_not_present")
<wyang> kernel.trace("kvm:kvm_async_pf_ready")
<wyang> kernel.trace("kvm:kvm_fpu")
<wyang> kernel.trace("kvm:kvm_ioapic_set_irq")
<wyang> kernel.trace("kvm:kvm_mmio")
<wyang> kernel.trace("kvm:kvm_msi_set_irq")
<wyang> kernel.trace("kvm:kvm_set_irq")
<wyang> kernel.trace("kvm:kvm_try_async_get_page")
<wyang> kernel.trace("kvm:kvm_userspace_exit")

<wyang> Any suggestion on it?
<wyang> I CAN find more kvm tracepoints in /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/available_event file
<wyang> ?

<fche> wyang, stap uses a different method to enumerate tracepoints than the /sys/kernel file
<fche> is you think some are missing, please send their names, and a stap --vp 05 -l 'kernel.trace("kvm*")' output to the mailing list
<wyang> fche, thanks for your reply it, its my fault :-(, I miss kernel-debuginfo package.
<fche> yeah; tracepoints don't normally require debuginfo
<fche> -but-
<fche> some kernel tracepoint header files aren't installed in the proper place, so stap needs to search the kernel source tree (which is in the debuginfo)
<wyang> kernel source tree is in debuginfo?
<fche> a copy of it is, yes
<fche> /usr/src/linux/.... or /usr/src/kernels/...
<wyang> I always think it should be contained in kernel-devel
<wyang> I will check it
<wyang> fche, kernel-debuginfo
<wyang> it also contains vmlinux/kernel module with debuginfo, and kernel source tree
<wyang> it means stap always tries to find tracepoint header file in /usr/lib/debug/usr/src/kernels
