https://twitter.com/whitequark/status/1318716191238688769 I can see I had the same idea as everyone else lmao (Photorec, despite its name does everything. It's file naming is shit, but I have used it to successfully recover videos/images/text files from a dying drive.

<cr1901_modern>
Is it supposed to look like that video (wrong gfx being drawn on the bottom screen, every 4 frames or so the patched game pauses to do work)
<cr1901_modern>
?*
<cr1901_modern>
ehhh, more like every 30 frames the game pauses for a few frames to do work*

The System/36 5360 System Unit vaguely resembled a huge washer-dryer in appearance, but unlike its predecessor, it ran on 208 or 240 volts AC. At 700 pounds (318 kg) this was still not quite a Pocket PC.
<andlabs>
yes thank you wikipedia for the information, I wouldn't have guessed
<andlabs>
also woah 240VAC -- in the US you gotta plug this into your kitchen wall lol
<cr1901_modern>
Reminds me of "DECTalk, with cat for scale"
<natarii>
cr1901_modern, it's pretty much inevitable with voip. even with decent ATAs on lan it's still too much
<natarii>
there's probably some scope to do a dreampi-like setup so there's no voip involved, but the gameplay stuff is very reliant on one side receiving an incoming ring signal which something like dreampi can't do, would be a lot of hacking to bypass that
<cr1901_modern>
Ahhh :(...
<natarii>
it's a master/slave thing, and that value is determined by whether or not the box is told to wait for a call, or told to dial
<cr1901_modern>
This would be the point where I would get frustrated and assume that the march of progress has killed off making XBand do new stuff lmao
<natarii>
i think the effort is better placed elsewhere re: actual gameplay
<andlabs>
and I cannot embed that picture for some reason; oh well
