hi hi hi hi hi?
<devyn>
hi work work work
<devyn>
bork
<devyn>
ELLIOTTCABLE: are you really crawling all of Wikipedia? I was sure they just had a page list you could look at
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
devyn: hm?
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
not crawling all of Wikipedia, just the disambiguation (sub-)categories.
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
Manually determined the root “Category:Disambiguation pages”-ish category for each language; and then programmatically crawl any new sub-categories of that category occasionally.
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
the *only* logic involved, is solving this issue:
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
wikipedi.as/Developer is basically a wasted slug.
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
because en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Developer is a disambiguation page.
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
that's useful to basically nobody. If I tap out a tweet about some subject, and include a wikipedi.as/Blah link, I want to be “reasonably sure” that that link will be useful to somebody.
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
So, wikipedi.as attempts to *usefully* resolve slugs that lead to disambiguation pages, to a conentful-page instead..
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
even if /wiki/Developer is later directly redirected to Software_Developer, and a disambiguation-note is added to the top, the existing wikipedi.as/ links around the web will still lead to the same place.
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
I'm currently considering causing wikipedi.as/ to resolve using pageIDs instead of slugs, on the Wikipedia end, so that it still works even if Developer_(album) is renamed
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
but I'm not sure the performance cost of that. we'll see.
<devyn>
ok
<devyn>
cool
<devyn>
why does CoffeeScript take a fuckton of time to compile on node.js on Windows
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
wat
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
really? o_O
<devyn>
I have 2765 lines of CoffeeScript and it takes like
<devyn>
3.2 seconds
<devyn>
one of them is huge ocmpared to the rest
<devyn>
one file is 1750 lines
<devyn>
should really plit it up
<devyn>
split
<devyn>
and like
<devyn>
refactor
<devyn>
but
<devyn>
