<eebs> Heh, I was going to file an issue about Slack and the TooManyParametersError exception being raised, but I see that's actually been fixed on master. Any idea when the next release will be containing that fix?
<dominikh> maybe this evening
<eebs> \o/
<dominikh> although I am confused why nobody is filing issues with Slack about their broken IRC :)
<eebs> I'll go do that right now :P
<eebs> They mention that their IRC gateway is still "just a little bit beta", so hopefully they'd be willing to fix some issues
<dominikh> it's been shit (my way of saying "a little bit beta") for months tho
<eebs> I don't doubt it, but more people telling them it's wrong can't hurt
bosma_ is now known as bosma
<leftylink> my weirdest thing with slax is... when you try to /nick on slack you get an error message, and the error message doesn't have a \n after it
<leftylink> so it gets combined with whatever next message the server decides to send to you
<leftylink> it's been fixed since
<dominikh> my weirdest Slack experience so far is that anything that looks like a URL gets prepended with "http://"
<leftylink> I also dislike slack's auto-join-a-channel-when-invited that I wrote a plugin that auto-parts any channels that I don't approve
<dominikh> which is such fun when discussing programming-related things
<eebs> leftylink: that sounds useful, interested in sharing that plugin?
<dominikh> second-weirdest experience is that when you PART the compulsory channel ("#general"), it keeps sending you the PRIVMSGs for that channel. it just ignores the PART
<eebs> I actually *just* got an email back from Slack about the MODE issue, apparently you can add '-novoice' to the end of your password, and Slack won't send and voice change updates
<leftylink> ah yes... that weird hidden feature =D
<leftylink> ok just a second for this plugin
<dominikh> eebs: so the choice is between broken ones and none at all?
<dominikh> amazing
<dominikh> if using Slack didn't earn me money, I wouldn't even bother
<eebs> dominikh: seems that way ;) The support guy said he'd forward the bug report to the gateway team, but who knows if that will go anywhere
* dominikh changes his actual password to "foo-novoice" and then complains to Slack support that mode changes disappeared
<leftylink> slack_autopart irssi sorry it's kinda shit http://pastebin.com/2PVLuLQN
<eebs> I would love to see that email exchange :P
<leftylink> I needed to fumble around with perl a bit to know what was going on
<eebs> Thanks leftylink
<leftylink> I could possibly check whether the $server is slack or something but I haven't yet
<leftylink> and there's... hmm iono there are probably various problems with it
<leftylink> I am not very good at this irssi plugin thing
<eebs> I thought you meant your wrote a cinch plugin :P But I still appreciate you sharing your approach, will see if I can put something together in cinch
<leftylink> ah are you concerned of someone inviting your bot to channels willy-nilly
<leftylink> interesting
<leftylink> yeah makes sense
<dominikh> let's see if I can release Cinch 2.2.6 today…
<leftylink> let me see how that gets handled
<eebs> Yeah, my bot somehow joined our #dev_questions channel which is supposed to be kept pretty quiet, and because I have an #xkcd bucket-like plugin running, the bot can be fairly noisy ;)
<dominikh> that'll teach them to invite people
<eebs> I think Slack allows you to auto-invite all users to a particular channel, and I think that's what happened to the bot
<leftylink> interesting interesting
<leftylink> "18:02:08 -!- Nick cannot change nick!!!:ej!ej@irc.tinyspeck.com MODE #general +v ej : active is temporarily unavailable"
<leftylink> trolo
<dominikh> what baffles me the most is how bad their code/architecture must be
<dominikh> for that one kind of message to trigger the bug
<leftylink> from rawlog
<leftylink> :irc.tinyspeck.com 437 testnick : cannot change nick!!!:ej!ej@irc.tinyspeck.com MODE #general +v ej : active
<leftylink> shit be cray
<leftylink> there was a super awesome bug where if your message contains an @, @s might get prepended to words that you didn't intend for them to be prepended to.
<eebs> hahah wat…
<leftylink> if you have someone whose username is "t", and you type "@ test it out", everyone else says "@ test @t out"
dominikh changed the topic of #cinch to: The IRC Framework | Latest version: Cinch 2.2.6
<leftylink> have someone whose username is "hanks" (say you have a Hank Smith)? well, now "@joe: thanks!" turns into "@joe: @hanks!" which seems much less grateful
<leftylink> trolo
<leftylink> they fixed that one quite quickly too
<eebs> I really want to know what sort of code was causing that
<dominikh> now make them fix that http:// bullshit please
<eebs> 'cause that's hilarious
<dominikh> eebs: there, pushed a new version
<eebs> dominikh: thanks, much appreciated
