banana pi?
<rm>
some still don't know about it!
<rm>
clearly they have not spammed hard enough
<mercutio>
i've been waiting all day for my cubietruck
<mercutio>
it's "with courier"
<mercutio>
for the last 8 hours
<rm>
the courier is playing with it
<rm>
installing debian and stuff
<mercutio>
i dunno what courier it is
<mercutio>
i think dhl can use more than one courier
<mercutio>
so for "cheap dhl" it'll come in unmarked van
<mercutio>
and for "expensive dhl" it'll come in dhl marked van
<mercutio>
but the unmarked vans arrive much later
<mercutio>
i suppose i should check the letterbox in case an unmarked van decided that my door was too far away

Hi! I have a problem with my cubieboard running archlinux
deasy has joined #cubieboard
<Mounicq1>
I use it with a ssh terminal and if a update my kernel with pacman the cubieboard is not yet on the network (i dont know if it boot correctly) and i have to change my /boot/uImage by the old file.
<Mounicq1>
so my kernel is still 3.0.57-6-ARCH
syeekick has joined #cubieboard
<iggy>
Mounicq1: updating to what?
FR^2 has joined #cubieboard
<Mounicq1>
On my board the package "linux-sun4i 3.4.79-3" is instaled but if i make uname -r it say "3.0.57-6-ARCH" and if i try to réinstall the "linux-sun4i 3.4.79-3" package and reboot my board disapear from the network
<Mounicq1>
(sorry for my english)
ShorTie has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<Mounicq1>
And if i want to reuse my cubieboard i must replace the /boot/uImage by the old (before réinstaling the package)
<iggy>
okay
<iggy>
was just makeing sure you were using a compatible kernel

aside from that, make sure you are using a proper config
<Mounicq1>
hum, how check that?
<iggy>
normally, I'd use the existing config that worked and run make oldconfig

<Mounicq1>
I use the repo package so i supose it is a précompiled kernel no?
<iggy>
oh
<iggy>
no clue about that
<iggy>
somebody else may know (or you could try askign in the arch channel)
<Mounicq1>
Cubieboard need a spécific config?

maybe the new kernell boot corectly but dont connect to network... but i dont know how to check it i only use the board with a ssh terminal :/
<rellla>
Mounicq1: why do you want to update your kernel? i don't know what kernel Arch wants to install, but you need a sunxi specific. you can try to connect your board to a monitor (if hdmi module is loaded) or look at the serial console http://linux-sunxi.org/UART
<rellla>
otherwise you won't find the error

<rellla>
either your kernel isn't booting at all, or - probably easier to fix - emac module neither isn't compiled into kernel, nor is loaded if compiled as a module.
<Mounicq1>
i dont know if the kernel start to boot or no. HDMI never work
<rellla>
what is the kernel, that don't work? is it a sunxi-kernel or just some common dist packaged?
Baronawesome has joined #cubieboard
<Mounicq1>
a common dist package
<Mounicq1>
pacman name it " local/linux-sun4i 3.4.79-3 "
<rellla>
that should work. it's named a sunxi specific kernel. post the .config, this kernel is built from
<Bushmills>
I'm not using cubieboard with Android, instead I run Debian
<ausjke>
I don't really use RPI, maybe I should, but the tutorials for RPI is everywhere
<shineworld>
I've got android sources for RT5370 and I'm trying to check what is missing in Android sdk 1.06 to get it working...
<Bushmills>
the same WLAN device, with RT5370, i was using as AP on Raspberry Pi too. openelec, out of the box
<ausjke>
Bushmills: which model is that, does it have an external antenna?
<shineworld>
Before of that, however, I'm trying (and seem to work) to move android so it run on SD
<shineworld>
I'm speaking about A20 (for android boot on SD)
<Bushmills>
no, it doesn't, it's a no-name, "generic" device. only "802.11n" imprinted on its plastic casing. identifies as ID 148f:5370 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT5370 Wireless Adapter
<Bushmills>
chinaware
<shineworld>
yes... I've purchased 10 sure to get RTL8188 but when I received the package the content was different .... RT5370
<shineworld>
Impossible to throw back so chinese seller
