<Namielus>
I have spent a lot of time designing a shield/pcb for docking on cubieboard and cubieboard 2 form factor, I am very impressed with cubietruck 2, but this requires a total redesign
<Namielus>
Does anyone know if there is an upcoming cubieboard 3 with the old smaller formfactor?
<Namielus>
Our design is a camera control system for triggering and downloading images from DSLR cams
<mhoney>
the next cubie will be same form factor as ct
<mhoney>
you might want to look at the Cubox Hummingboard
<Namielus>
take a look, we are triggering 110 dslr cameras within a few microseconds
<Namielus>
currently using about 10 cubieboards
<n3glv>
3d imaging?
<Namielus>
yea thats right
<Namielus>
good catch
<Namielus>
speficially of living creatures
<n3glv>
so you take digital 3d images of kittens to upload to the web?
* n3glv
snark
<Namielus>
I might see an improvement if I switch to cubieboard 2, but I wanted to know if something with those pin headers is planned with similar specs to the new cubietruck a80 which would be insanely cool
<Namielus>
i have a picture of me and my dog at least
<Namielus>
The 3d models are compressed for web but it gives you an idea
<n3glv>
so who has 110 times $500 ?
* n3glv
is tied down to the house waiting for NEXUS 5!!
<Namielus>
n3glv try 110x 800 dollars
<n3glv>
figured at least 500 per
<Namielus>
you need stuff like permanent power etc
<Namielus>
forget about charging and changing 110 batteries every day
<n3glv>
lol
<n3glv>
just loosing the mechanical allignment would be a pita
<Namielus>
yea
* n3glv
is Projectionist / stage lighting etc
<Namielus>
aha nice
<Namielus>
we have trouble with lighting
<n3glv>
fairly aware of what kind of issues you'd be getting into
RA3OR has quit [Quit: RA3OR Script® v0.8]
<Namielus>
because we need fairly powerful light, and since we cover pretty much every single angle possible (to an extent) a fair portion of cameras are bound to be looking directly into our flashes
<n3glv>
the secret sauce has to be the stitching
<n3glv>
ahh yeah
<Namielus>
soft boxes arent enough

<n3glv>
could you trigger the cams/flashes to run around the room, not quite firing at same time?
<n3glv>
as long as it was too fast for object to move more than a few mm
<Namielus>
yes we could do that but it would severly influence the quality because if the left side of you is lit up in one chunk of pictures
<Namielus>
the other will look different when its lit up in the next chunk
<Namielus>
it will be a problem for photo aligment as it looks for similarities and contrast in the images
<n3glv>
so, every other truss has a cubie and usb hub
RA3OR has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<Namielus>
yes, so there is capacity to gain by adding a few more cubies
<Namielus>
but I was really hoping an old style cubieboard with at least gb lan
<n3glv>
these are not all around?
<n3glv>
or yes, they must be.. nvm
<Namielus>
in average I think its 7 cams per cubie
<n3glv>
you need fiber optic lan

<Namielus>
as long as the pictures arrive on each cubieboard, I think we can survive with the very poor 100mbit port and going from that to a 6gbit switch
<Namielus>
the most crucial issue is that the usb is bottlenecked with so many requests/data at once
<Namielus>
since you guys say there is no new cubie with that formfactor coming out
<Namielus>
I might as well just order the cubie2
<Namielus>
6 of them to try out
<n3glv>
lol, I'm just the village idiot, had my truck for less than a week

<n3glv>
can't figure out how to lower the resolution on cubieez
<n3glv>
to something my cheap monitor can display
<n3glv>
age old problem with neckbeard coders
<n3glv>
they always make default resolution as-high-as-their-expensive-monitor-can-go
<n3glv>
vs say 1280x1020
<n3glv>
or 800x600
<n3glv>
and then let joe user increse it
<n3glv>
1024 rather

mhoney: any clues on how to get debieez / cubieez to display something my monitor can handle?
<n3glv_McWifi>
vs 1900x3million or some such shite
<mhoney>
no idea.
<n3glv_McWifi>
these devs kill me
<n3glv_McWifi>
instead of starting low and letting user increas it afterward
<n3glv_McWifi>
they start at MAX RES
<mhoney>
you could always try modifying xorg.con in /etc/X11
<n3glv_McWifi>
meh, maybe
<n3glv_McWifi>
all this shit about uEnv etc, nothing works
<n3glv_McWifi>
I can get login page, then POOF no more video
<mhoney>
I just went through this with my cubox. turned out I didn't have to touch uEnv.txt, the trouble was that xorg.conf didn't have the right resolutions defined
