<mave_> The latest beta is quite rough for the pi4, mysql support isn't working, wifi has problems connecting and keeping a connection
DarkPonay has joined #libreelec
<DarkPonay> Hi everyone, i have a RPI4 which has the composite output problem. I can make it work by using Raspbian and rpi-update. Is there a way to make it work with Libreelec since there is now rpi-update in it?
<franbird> there's rpi-update in LE?
<DarkPonay> sorry, i mean "not"
<franbird> oh
<franbird> yeah i was wondering before about how to firmware update my pi4 thats running LE
<DarkPonay> i have read that you can do by replacing start.elf and fixup.dat byt start4 and fixup4 from the RPi firwmare github
<DarkPonay> I tried it but it doesn't boot anymore
<franbird> sounds too hard for me
<DarkPonay> no it really easy, download and rename two files
<franbird> yeah but it didnt work for you
<DarkPonay> Are you in the same case (you want to use the composite output) ?
<franbird> no mine often shows high temperature
<DarkPonay> oh ok
<franbird> i read the rpi devs released firmwares which improved upon heat
<DarkPonay> In my case, it doesn't work because they also updated a driver.
<DarkPonay> Maybe it will work with HDMI but i was not able to test.
<DarkPonay> I only have a CRT TV. The RPi4 is for using as a HTPC
<DarkPonay> Personnaly i would be happy with Raspbian and Kodi with autolaunch but i'm not expert with linux CLI
<franbird> damn CRT tv
<franbird> oldschool
<DarkPonay> Yep, a Sony, 28" 16/9 tube from 1997 still working like a charm. Sometimes i would like to replace it with a modern huge LCD but i will miss it too much.
<franbird> how much power does it use
<DarkPonay> I forgot, i remember it was not so much.
<DarkPonay> i have it in 3 different sizes, 28", 24" (twice), and 16"

<DarkPonay> the 16" and his 5" radio/tv friend playing Kodi direct TV, from a VBOX DVB-T streamer : http://temp.labcellar.com/KV-16WT1B.jpg
<franbird> nice
<DarkPonay> it is my first time with RPi, and a bit disappointed... Used to have a i3 intel NUC with Libreelec but wanted to get rid of the lag of the HDMI to DVB-T to Composite to UHF conversion
<franbird> you can put LE on a NUC?
<franbird> i have like 3 NUCs around the home
<DarkPonay> Yes you can, just a basic amd64 LE install
<DarkPonay> i have old haswell ones, so i dont know for newer ones
<DarkPonay> but on mines i even have the IR port working. Which is pretty neat

<mave_> Why are you disappointed DarkPonay, if you want to have libreelec working flawless you should have bought a 3B=
<mave_> 3B+
<mave_> libreelec for the pi4 is still very beta, i tried the latest beta yesterday and switched back to the 3B+
<mave_> it's a matter of time
<DarkPonay> Hi mave_, disappointed because i was hoping to use the pi 4, but i will do the same and use m 3B+ instead for the moment
<DarkPonay> What i would love to find is a sort of "slice" stb but with classic pi inside... Just the fact having all the ports on the same side is just cool.
