<Darkmatter66> narmstrong, Hi,I'm trying to enable video in u-boot for p201 board, but the screen connected through hdmi keeps displaying the soc logo
<Darkmatter66> narmstrong, I've enabled CONFIG_VIDEO_MESON, CONFIG_VIDEO_DT_SIMPLEFB and CONFIG_CONSOLE_MUX
<Darkmatter66> narmstrong, I chainload the mainline bootloader from the vendor bootloader, could this present a problem ?
<narmstrong> no, but honestly I never tested this
<narmstrong> be sure the video gets enabled
<Darkmatter66> narmstrong, do you mean never tested this on gxb only ? beacuse i see it enabled in libretech-cc
<Darkmatter66> narmstrong, how can I know if it's enabled ? I only get the logo, so i't enabled by the vendor bootloader i presume!
<narmstrong> Darkmatter66: please send the u-boot log
<Darkmatter66> narmstrong, the mainline u-boot log is here: https://0x0.st/zAFq.FzsbXCT
<Darkmatter66> narmstrong, if i disbale CONSOLE_MUX and SYS_CONSOLE_IS_IN_ENV I get an error: https://0x0.st/zAFc.fSNkyFe
<mjourdan> Darkmatter66: please check the following kconfigs:
<mjourdan> CONFIG_POWER_DOMAIN=y CONFIG_MESON_GX_VPU_POWER_DOMAIN=y CONFIG_DM_VIDEO=y CONFIG_VIDEO_MESON=y CONFIG_SYS_WHITE_ON_BLACK=y CONFIG_VIDEO_DT_SIMPLEFB=y

<Darkmatter66> mjourdan, ok now my screen report an HDMI input (1080p@50Hz) for a few seconds (with black screen though) but then the screen report that there is no HDMI signal
afaerber has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<mjourdan> Darkmatter66: mmh, I don't have any more hints. I have an odroid c2 here so I'll be able to spin it up to test it. Are you on u-boot master ?
<Darkmatter66> mjourdan, yes, u-boot master forked from their github mirror
<Darkmatter66> mjourdan, if video is working what should i expect to see ? u-boot prompt? maybe there is a command i should run in u-boot serial to write something ?
<mjourdan> yes, u-boot prompt. If your kernel/dtb is recent enough to have the simplefb nodes, you should see a smooth transition into kernel console (with the little penguins for amount of cpu cores etc).
<Darkmatter66> mjourdan, well there is a command in u-boot "lcdwrite" but i suppose it only writes to the device built-in lcd (if it has one), no command to write for hdmi screens
<mjourdan> nah you should just see the u-boot prompt and it should definitely not go to "no signal", so there's something else happening

<narmstrong> Darkmatter66: what board it is ?
<Darkmatter66> narmstrong, kii pro tv box, which is just p201 reference board with a dvb tuner
<narmstrong> Darkmatter66: honestly we haven't really tested the feature extensively out of the libretech boards
<narmstrong> and even less with GXBB
<narmstrong> something stupid must be missing
<narmstrong> it's basically a sync of the linux DRM code without the drm boilerplate code
<Darkmatter66> narmstrong, too bad, let's see if mjourdan can reproduce it on his odroid-c2
