<Necrosporus> Hi. I have AMLOGIC MESON3 8726M SKT SH. What is the best kernel to use? Will it be possible to use Composite output?
<Necrosporus> It's a TV console
<Necrosporus> cvbs
<xdarklight> Necrosporus: there's no mainline kernel support for the SoC and I am not sure what the "best" kernel for this is
<Necrosporus> OK, just kernel which will work with regular rootfs
<Necrosporus> Like archlinux arm
<Necrosporus> Or buildroot
<Necrosporus> I would like to make use of the TV console but default android is old and unusable
<Necrosporus> Except I have managed to connect to UART
<Necrosporus> So I can run commands
<Necrosporus> Perhaps it can be made to run X and some games
<Necrosporus> xdarklight, http://openlinux.amlogic.com/wiki/index.php/Arm/arm-Kernel_Info which one of this?
<xdarklight> Arch Linux ARM has different kernel options (mainline and board specific kernels, for example for Odroid-C1) but as far as I know none of these has support for that SoC
<xdarklight> I don't know about buildroot but I think it's the same there
<Necrosporus> xdarklight, I just want any kernel which works on my device, newer is preferable so I can run later version of rootfs
<Necrosporus> Linux localhost 2.6.34V2.0.0-166-g584fce8 V2.0.0-166-g584fce8(20130124.190554) armv7l GNU/Linux
<Necrosporus> That's what is there by default

<chewitt> most vendors have (had) 3.10 kernels for 8726MX devices
<chewitt> but very few of them are found online, and if they are they're usually full of vendor hacks
<chewitt> so unlikely to transplant onto another device
