i'm not aware of any. anything in particular you hope to find in a specific channel instead of here?
<fenreer>
Nope, I just don't want to spam the wrong channel with questions that might be better answered elsewhere. It looks like this is the place!

I'm a newb to these development boards but I'm excited about the Rock960, both because it has a small form factor (credit-card sized roughly) and because it's powerful enough to serve as my portable linux development machine. I'm a software engineer and I want a tiny, portable computer that I can tote back and forth between home and work.
<fenreer>
So what's the best way to get audio support (standard audio out is fine, nothing fancy and perhaps a mic jack) on the rock960 without bulking it up too much?
<fenreer>
I see it has built-in wifi which is awesome, and I'm sure I can get a USB dongle for RJ-45 Ethernet connectivity, but the audio isn't on board and I'd like to add it if possible.
<beeble>
i'm not aware of anybody having a rock960 here (but can be that i just missed some disucussions). but the rk3399 is something often discussed here
<fenreer>
Ah, so one of my requirements is multiple monitor support. The Rock960 has DisplayPort v1.2 support via USB-C (alternate mode) and that's precisely what I'm looking for. I'll look up the rk3399 but I've been doing a lot of research lately and not very many boards support DP1.2, especially at this size.
<fenreer>
FWIW, DP1.2 allows daisy-chaining of DP monitors so you can hook them all up to one DisplayPort (in this case, via the USB-C port through a dongle)
<beeble>
for audio, there is i2s on the expansion header. so if you are familiar enough with doing your own pcb you can add a codec for audio out. otherwise just using a usb audio class device is another possibility
<fenreer>
Nice, looking up i2s next
<beeble>
i2s is the interface between a soc and the audio codec. the audio codec is doing the analog stuff. so it's pretty much just a pcm stream with a clock and some framing signals
<fenreer>
nod
<fenreer>
Wow, this rk3399 has DP1.2 also!
<fenreer>
Oh, I see. This is the CPU/memory chipset that these boards are using.
