<Ke>
any recommendations for USB-C hubs for Kevin to be used with mainline kernel
<Ke>
I may want charger, USB-3 A, HDMI/DP, ethernet, uSD/SD, small size
<Ke>
I have now some eeco hub, which works only at very limited scope
<Ke>
or is USB-C support still unreliable in general?
<eballetbo>
I have a Netway docking usb-c NW1787 that works well, though not fits completely with your requirements.
<eballetbo>
The USB-C should work in current mainline, but there is a fix for a bug after suspend/resume that did not land yet.
<Ke>
my requirements are not strict outside of the USB-A, all of them are useful though
<Ke>
VGA?
<Ke>
well, seems reasonable anyway
<Ke>
what feature have you tested?
<eballetbo>
I think that all is tested except audio over hdmi. The VGA is because I have a very old projector, I'm pretty sure there is a model without VGA.

<levd>
mmind00: I keep getting "dwc3 fe800000.dwc3: Failed to get clk 'ref': -2" in mainline rk3399 kernel, do not know how to get pass it.
<mmind00>
levd: I actually don't think that this is a failing condition ... i.e. drivers/usb/dwc3/core.c states that clocks are optional
<eballetbo>
levd: it's an ugly message but that shouldn't prevent the dwc3 work. I also have these messages and usb working.
<levd>
I'm testing TypeC1, usb mouse is ok, while usb3 disk not
<levd>
So I wonder if the usb3 phy works or not
<eballetbo>
levd: which board are you using?
<beeble>
jfyi: a usb 3 device usually does not use the usb2.0 part any more (except hubs)
<beeble>
so your mouse does not touch usb3 at all
<levd>
eballetbo: the roc-rk3399-pc board
<levd>
beeble: yeah, you are right.
<levd>
Using the vendor kernel, the TypeC 1 port did work with usb3 disk.
