<topi`> i'm not seeing any init message from i2c-rk3x.c ... what's going on? do I need something specific in the dts?
<topi`> [ 5.254613] i2c /dev entries driver
<topi`> this is the only message containing "i2c"
<topi`> [ 35.676109] vcc_sd: disabling
<topi`> from this, I'm assuming I2C can control the rk808 chip, because something is disabling vcc_sd
<robmur01> in a perfect world, no correctly-functioning drivers would have spammy init messages anyway ;)
<robmur01> the correct way to see whether i2c is up and running is to see if stuff in /sys/bus/i2c and friends is populated
<rtp> topi`: iirc, the kernel is disabling unused regulators automatically. check your dts if vcc_sd is used by a device / node

<robmur01> good point - if the kernel thinks it's unused, then the dwmmc driver can't have claimed it, so something's probably up with probing that
<robmur01> (and that one *is* noisy as hell in dmesg)
<topi`> robmur01: i haven't gotten into a shell yet (nfsroot not mounting due to PHY not powering up)
<topi`> but I'll spin up a ramdisk from buildroot and try to see
<topi`> gotta go pick up kids from daycare

<ukleinek> Where can I read about boot requirements on rk3399? I have a sdcard image with u-boot and I want to copy that to emmc to boot from there. Which parts do I have to extract?
<ukleinek> The TRM tells somethins about an ID BLOCK
<stikonas> ukleinek: I do have some info on my blog
<stikonas> it's not exactly what you want to do but more general boot overview, so maybe it would still be a bit useful
<stikonas> the thing is that u-boot has a few stages
<stikonas> and location of next stage is compiled into the previous stage
<stikonas> so a bit hard to know in advance which bytes to copy...
