<montjoie>
nvz: twofish not supported by hardware
<nvz>
you are saying its incompatible with the h3
<pmpp>
for ecb mode sure cause does cbc only
<montjoie>
nvz: no hardware offload
<montjoie>
you can still compile it but it will done by softwate only
<nvz>
i just wanted to access a device thats already encrypted with twofish
<montjoie>
and for h3 the hardware driver is still in progress
<nvz>
ill move the data out and wont need it anymore
<montjoie>
nvz: so just enable software twofish
<nvz>
if i had a pc it wouldnt be an issue the device is bootable on x86/amd64
<nvz>
how do i do that?
<montjoie>
by selecting the rigth option in make menuconfig
<nvz>
ah well that would only be possible if the jackass that made this kernel also made a source package
<nvz>
i have the headers but thats not helping

i just remember running into issues with vim on nfsroots when it tries to save it's swapfile and blocks the whole process. but that one recovered as soon as the write flushed. so maybe unrelated to your issue when it "dies" completely

noblock: so you backported the original cedar driver to mainline?
<[TheBug]>
wouldn't that be a forward port instead of a backport, back port would imply you moved newer code to an older kernel I would think...
<[TheBug]>
and in that case I would also assume you would just say "it was ported to X kernel" not it was "forward ported" hehe...
<rellla>
s/ backported/ ported/ ;)
<MoeIcenowy>
maybe you mean forwardport?
IgorPec has quit [Ping timeout: 276 seconds]

omg, sunxi people are nitpicker :p
<noblock>
Indeed 'forwardport' or 'update' is the right verb.
<juri_>
+1, would nitpick again.

<rellla>
ok. once having clarified the verb, it should now be possible to update libvdpau-sunxi to use mainline display driver and mainline cedar module...
<noblock>
rellla: Indeed, but we have to remove all the '/dev/disp' logic. Afterall we don't have any 2D hardware accelaeration anymore on the last allwinner chips; And the video output configuration must be done at the /dev/fb0 level.
<rellla>
noblock: 2D is only available on A10/20, so...
<MoeIcenowy>
we used to use a dedicated layer
<MoeIcenowy>
however, currently the layer will be occupied for A10s/A13/A33/A31, and not available for DE2 SoCs (only V3s is mainlined, but H3 and A64 has not mainlined DRM driver)
<MoeIcenowy>
and they have no YUV layer support
smaeul has quit [Ping timeout: 276 seconds]
<noblock>
2D handling is now done at the KMS/DRM level on the linux kernel; This is unlikely that someone is working on this.

Yes I have seen the m2m work on mainline kernel; But I was unable to find a proper and generic vaapi layer.
<noblock>
It seems that m2m is limited today to the v4l layer; and lack a proper standard covering from mpeg2 to h265.

Otherwise, I've tried on the mainline kernel, but without any success yet, to run Cedar or the Mali driver on my opipc2 (H5) board; The hardware is likely not properly initialized.
