enable drm_debug and see why? corrupted EDID? why is it not picking a modeline?
<wens>
debug messages should provide some clues
<wens>
MoeIcenowy: do you sleep at all? :p
<MoeIcenowy>
wens: of course, slept for ~7hrs
<MoeIcenowy>
wens: EDID is ok and modelines are shown
<MoeIcenowy>
and it picks 1920x1200
<MoeIcenowy>
(I think it don't dare to pick it without valid EDID modeline
<MoeIcenowy>
wens: BTW I got voltage adjusting enabled BPi M2+ H3/5
<wens>
willmore: is Rpi also part of the shit-pi family? :p
<wens>
MoeIcenowy: cool
<anarsoul>
wens: it's not the greatest board
<anarsoul>
but it's popular
<MoeIcenowy>
it pays much "brain tax" ;-)
<anarsoul>
what do you mean?
<MoeIcenowy>
ah some Chinese Internet joke
<MoeIcenowy>
which means some "tax" that you paid for not using the brain
<anarsoul>
friend of mine blames arduino for the same reason :)
<MoeIcenowy>
wens: oh maybe I make a big failure on R40 kernel
<MoeIcenowy>
I forgot to enable CMA
<MoeIcenowy>
*facepalm*
<MoeIcenowy>
and maybe it refuses to allocate a buffer for 1920x1200
<anarsoul>
:)
<anarsoul>
looks like timings for DSI are fixed...
<anarsoul>
now I need to figure out vblank irq
<MoeIcenowy>
anarsoul: maybe you can make a dirty hack first?
<MoeIcenowy>
drop vblank in tcon and add vblank in dsi
<anarsoul>
MoeIcenowy: ha, it's not necessary
<MoeIcenowy>
jernej, wens: yes it's cma problem, sorry for disturbing
<anarsoul>
once I fixed the timings tcon vblank interrupt started to work
<anarsoul>
paulk-leonov: looks like you've got wrong timings for your panel
<MoeIcenowy>
ok
<MoeIcenowy>
maybe DSI have higher requirment for timing?
<MoeIcenowy>
(RGB usually have quite high tolerence
<anarsoul>
MoeIcenowy: well, there's no feed back from RGB panel
<MoeIcenowy>
yes
<anarsoul>
so basically TCON can signal vblank irq whenever it wants to
<anarsoul>
I suspect it's not true for DSI
<MoeIcenowy>
anarsoul: so you got the panel to work?
<anarsoul>
yes
<MoeIcenowy>
jernej: here for the WaveShare LCD if it's plugged when boot it doesn't work
<MoeIcenowy>
but if replug it will work then
<MoeIcenowy>
anarsoul: congrats!
<wens>
MoeIcenowy: I thought that term applied to people attending hugely expensive but somewhat questionable lectures
<anarsoul>
MoeIcenowy: thanks :)
<MoeIcenowy>
wens: it's used for more terms at mainland Chinese
<MoeIcenowy>
and the original text is in fact "智商税"
<anarsoul>
I'm very happy that I got it working :)
<wens>
MoeIcenowy: ok. I've only seen it applied in near-scamming contexts
<MoeIcenowy>
jernej: the "hdmi-phy-clk" clock changed between initial and re-plug
<MoeIcenowy>
initial 48MHz, replug 32MHz
<wens>
such as, big Internet buzz word related stuff
<miasma>
hm, the function 'ulong timer_get_boot_us(void)' is missing from u-boot's arch/arm/cpu/armv7/sunxi/timer.c -- should it just return COUNT_TO_USEC(get_ticks())
<wens>
MoeIcenowy: cryptocurrency being the latest lol
<MoeIcenowy>
jernej: maybe clk_set_rate is called too early?
<MoeIcenowy>
jernej: oooooooooooooops more interestingly it's never called at first plug

wens, from a hardware architecture standing, it's the most broken one I know of. They still use a USB controller with known issues, they're trying to do ethernet and four ports off on OTG port in host mode. Their uSD controller is basic and unreliable. It's a long list.

I'm a bit confused about uEnv.txt vs boot.scr. Are both just alternative ways to configure u-boot?
<micken>
I am with SMHC again. The RESPONSE0 (0x20) register is always 0x900. Even in u-boot it doesn't change. I am sending a if_cond command and expect the argument to be echoed .... Sending idle does change RESP1...
<micken>
all confused
<micken>
I have been folowing the NetBSD driver
<beeble>
avph: boot.scr is a u-boot script that distoboot looks for. it is precompiled and is a script. uEnv.txt is a file that some boards use to set u-boot environment variables. see it a key value storage. usually the boot.scr loads the uEnv.txt and sets the values (via env import)

hi everyone,

but there is always talk of sun4i and sun7i, there is no mention of sun8i and less sun50i and I would like to ask if it is for some reason, if the procedure would work on the sun8i platform, if someone has been able to do it.

paulk-leonov: try extracting your panel timings from dtb and use http://linux-sunxi.org/LCD to convert them to drm_display_mode
<paulk-leonov>
anarsoul|2, yup, that's what I did initially
<paulk-leonov>
from fex*
<paulk-leonov>
and also from dumping the regs from android
<paulk-leonov>
I'll give it another shot soon
<anarsoul|2>
well
<anarsoul|2>
DSI in A33 seems to be indentical to A64
<anarsoul|2>
so you can try my changes if your panel is using burst mode
<paulk-leonov>
oh you're doing burst mode!
<paulk-leonov>
mine is video mode
<paulk-leonov>
like mripard's
<paulk-leonov>
however I also have an A64 tablet that probably has DSI
<anarsoul|2>
anyway, if image is a bit off, i.e. if you have some garbage at the top of screen or at the bottom - try poking sun6i_dsi_get_video_start_delay() and SUN6I_DSI_BASIC_SIZE0_REG write in sun6i_dsi_setup_timings()
<anarsoul|2>
VBP is (vtotal - vsync_end) according to linux-sunxi.org/LCD
<anarsoul|2>
paulk-leonov: once I fixed these I started getting vblank interrupt from TCON
<paulk-leonov>
sadly, that's what I tried alreadty
<paulk-leonov>
but I'll give it another shot
<anarsoul|2>
do you have any garbage at the top or bottom?
<paulk-leonov>
just a white screen
<paulk-leonov>
and if I don't send the DSI init commands, black
<paulk-leonov>
anarsoul|2, ok my A64 tablet has DSI too
<paulk-leonov>
1200x1920, nice!
<anarsoul|2>
I don't send any DSI init commands, it appears that my panel doesn't need any
<paulk-leonov>
okay, mine apparently does
<paulk-leonov>
at least the lcd.ko from android sends some

anarsoul|2, mhh I didn't change it at all
<paulk-leonov>
also I didn't dump dphy regs from android
<paulk-leonov>
I'll double-check that
<paulk-leonov>
thanks
<anarsoul|2>
it's not dphy reg
<anarsoul|2>
it's ccu reg
